I can't seem to buy Portal 2 - The Final Hours. I do a search and it comes up, but when I click on the result, it comes up with a random store front page. Some searches don't even return it. I restarted Steam and had to reauthorize it, but still no sale. I've got to go to the bar and I'm late thanks to this. Bother.

Some people on the Steam forums yesterday were complaining that this program had been somehow infected with malware, so I guess Valve took it down to figure out what is up and fix it. I would check back Monday morning if you can.

At that point it's not comfortable to carry around no matter what. I'd much rather spend $2,800 on a system with much better specs like this and a companion Ultrabook that I can slip into a bag.
You said it! Where gaming is concerned, power is way more important than thinness. The weight of a larger laptop doesn't bother me too much, but I don't carry it every single place I go, either.

Well, I had my notebook preordered since March and I didn't want to wait any longer. Besides, I'm kinda loyal to nVidia and like the benefits of PhysX, nor do I ant to deal with incompatibility issues that occasionally come up from using other cards. But I do hope to upgrade to a 580M this fall, finances-willing.

I use mine just like any other laptop, carry it from room to room, etc. We both bought ours from XoticPC.

Awesome, awesome machines, highly customizable.

Sager makes some great custom notebooks. Some parts are even upgradable.
Thanks guys. Yes, in addition to being just as powerful as Alienware or any other brand and yet costing less, Sagers are super customizable. You can replace the CPU, video card, RAM, optical drive, and even the screen on your own, without voiding the warranty. Makes it possible to get the notebook more affordably and then buff it up down the line.

So Rockstar is giving us a free racing game from 2003 that isn't compatible with Windows 7.

GEE, THANKS ROCKSTAR!

I'm pretty sure it works on Windows 7, just it isn't officially supported so they won't help with any issues should they arise.

There's a youtube video on getting MC2 to work in Win 7, in the description of the vid there's a link to a website with a guide on patching the game. On that website it says that as of something like Feb 2011 the Steam version doesn't require patching. So I'm hoping it just works. Most of the posts in the Steam forum on getting the game running were from 2010 or earlier.

Brink is $1.99 plus shipping at goHastings for a retail copy but it's Steamworks. http://www.gohastings.com/product/GA...279062840.uts#

Cheapest I seen for a retail copy of the game. It might be a few cents cheaper at a Steam sale if you factor in shipping but overall, I think that's the best you can get for some time if you really want Brink.

Still not worth it. The bots are dumb and multiplayer is dead.

Nice.

Me, I spend a lot of time looking through my library, trying to decide what to play next.

Yeah, I'm guessing that it wont be too hard to get it running. It sounds like they've at least got it patched to have it running right out of box. I can't imagine that they'd giveaway a game that more than half of the recipients would be unable to play.

Boo Hoo, Free game and I still like to whine about it. Talk about entitlement?

Yay or nay? It's hard to pass up $3 for 4 games. The Metacritic scores aren't too shabby either.

If you like the genre then it's definitely worth $3 for the collection.

Bought it without thinking

$3 for Four Games?
Good Ratings?

I used to play Commandos with a friend, and love it. Been waiting a while for this to go on sale!

Is there one commandos game that's better than all the rest? I know it's only $3 but I don't really see myself finding the time to play more than one personally.

I actually can't tell from the screenshots what sort of game the commandos games are. There's neither a demo nor any gameplay video. Does anybody have any impressions of how the games play?

EDIT: Never mind. There are plenty of Videos up on Youtube. I think I've got the basic idea. I think I might pick up the bundle.
Old 05-13-2012, 03:08 PM   #3219
I bought the Commandos collection expecting one thing, but it turned out to be brutally murderously hard. I think I need to study the manual.
