Keeping tabs on the 'word on the street' is definitely something Valve excels at. On the other hand, why would they need to watch this thread?

I want Fear 2 + the DLC for $10 or less.

For what it's worth those are Sims expansion backs and they do add new content with actual changes to game play and things to do. ie Showtime let's you actually play a career as a singer or magician r whatever etc.

They do make stuff packs which are just, well, stuff. But those expansions do add additional game play elements.

EA seems to be starting to pull shenanigans with Steam and the Sims though. They never released the Katy Perry Sweet Treats stuff pack released about a month ago everywhere else to Steam. While I think that pack is silly and ridiculously overpriced, I'm rather concerned they might be cutting off all future expansions like the upcoming Supernatural expansion. People who bought Sims 3 on Steam can't use expansions bought elsewhere. OTOH our install process is way easier. Sims can be a nightmare sometimes figuring out what order to install all the numerous expansions and stuff packs in but you don't have to worry about that with Steam.

Anyway Sims is kind of like Railworks lite. It seems to require a steady stream of additional content both official and unofficial for most people to keep up interest long term and plenty of people are willing to pay for that but it seems a bit insane to an outsider.

Yeah, Sims is definitely one of those games that thrives on an "addiction lite" sub-culture.

I got into it back with the original Sims, but it's slightly excessive in recent years.

Okay, I'll do this top 10 thing too. Giving myself a slightly flexible budget of ~$50 for the sale so I don't know if I'll be able to get everything.

In no particular order...
Trine 2 (although I may pass since I got it for free on PS+)
Rayman Origins
Alan Wake + American Nightmare
Batman Arkham City
Quantum Conundrum

Eh, and maybe Fallout New Vegas. Haven't decided if I want that though since I havent played Fallout 3 too much yet (I'm still in the vault, lol)

Wow, I can't even come up with 10 games off the top of my head. I have too many games already! Haha

Ys Origin
Ys: The Oath in Felghana
Legend of Grimrock
Grotesque Tactics 2: Dungeons and Donuts
Fray
The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav
Dead Island: Game of the Year Edition

That would be the EA influence. Originally there were just expansions that added actual game play but once EA realized that people were paying money to modders for just new items they were all over that like white on rice. Now there are stuff packs and Sims store micro transactions out the ying yang where you can pay for individual hairdos and end tables and crap like that a la carte.

The store micro transactions you can only get directly from EA. Sims 3 is old enough that it's grandfathered in before Valve changed the terms of service about dlc but Sims 4 definitely won't be on Steam. I can almost guarantee that. EA loves the current micro transaction model and I don't see them giving it up since it seems to be working for them.

I want Game of Thrones but that shit will probably be $25. Game is worth 10 bucks at most. Wouldn't mind Witcher 2 for <$20 and Trine 2 for $5

I've heard REALLY bad things about Fray and not much good about Confrontation either.

Apparently quite a number of people who bought Fray are saying it's buggy and broken and are even demanding their money back.

Confrontation has awful draconian DRM with activation limits so beware.

Games of Thrones may or may not have that same DRM since Focus told Tony the Amazon rep that it did and then went and posted on the Steam forums that it didn't. The version they are selling elsewhere definitely has it.

The Game of Thrones Strategy game from that same developer was utter garbage and basically just a casdh grab based on the name so that and the potential for crappy drum made me ass on this one.

Chainsof Satinav is probably too new to get a decent sale. The Euro crowd will probably keep it popular for a while. That is if they aren't too busy trying to sell their Steam copy.

Yeah, I know a number of these didn't get great reviews, but so few turn-based games and RPGs get made these days. I feel if there's something along those lines and it's on sale, I might as well go for it.

Biggest clue for me that the sale starts the 12th? The Pyromania TF2 promotion runs until the 11th.

My hopes for the sale:
Ticket to Ride Complete for $10
Kingdoms of Amalur Complete for $20
Ys bundle for $10
Earth Defense Force for $5
Sonic CD, 4.1 and 4.2 for 75% off
Peggle Bundle for $5

Of course I'll end up picking up some things I didn't plan on, but the list of things I'm interested in keeps getting smaller the more games I own.

I've put about 90 hours into Sims 3, making it my most-played Steam game. I know 90 hours may not seem like a lot, but I usually quit a game before 20 hours.

But nothing in particular per say...sorry if that's the boring answer.
Well, I'm sure we may all end up picking up things we didn't anticipate based on whatever goes on sale. Do I want Morrowind and Oblivion? Sure, kinda. If they go cheap enough, I may end up getting one or the other. And I'm sure there will be discounts on games I wasn't interested in that will look enticing.

Thing is, the same sort of games tend to go massively on sale for the Dailys for each major sale. So there are things we figure will definitely be discounted, and we just hope for significant discounts on everything else we want.

Ah, I see. I didn't now all of those added new content.

And yeah, I want the Supernatural pack as well. I've been trying to get everything on Steam that I can, but I agree with you as far as Steam getting Sims 4. Pfft. Which sucks, but I'll have to stick with the PC (versus Xbox) as the PC gets all the extra expansions while 360 owners are screwed.

While it's not 75% off, Amazon has a bundle with Steam copies of Sonic CD, 4 Ep 1 and 2 for $12.50. I think it's good through today only though. Amazon Sonic Bundle

In other news, I can't wait for the still overpriced CoD weekend deal that is bound to happen due to the recent CoD news *sarcasm*.

What I'm looking forward to in this sale, as always, are the discussions when the daily deals are revealed. Often I'll get a game that I wouldn't have purchased otherwise just because it's at a good price and it's well reviewed. That's how I got Just Cause 2 and Defense Grid in past sales, my two most played games on Steam.

The constant sales on Steam and other places have left my wishlist somewhat depleted for this sale. I mean, I got Alan Wake at release for a good price (and enjoyed it so much that I felt obligated to purchase American Nightmare on day one) and AC: Revelations when it was a daily deal, two games that I'd have waited for a big sale to get. Not to mention the countless bundles that have appeared.

Anyway, my top ten is:

- COD: Black Ops and MW3 (just in the extremely slim chance they are 75% off)
- The Walking Dead (hopefully for 50% off)
- James Bond: Blood Stone (only if it's under 10 dollars)
- Fallout 3 GOTY (missed it on the last sale for 7.50. I'd get it for that price, even though I now have my doubts I'll enjoy it. I got Borderlands and played for a few hours before quitting)
- LEGO Indiana Jones games
- QUBE
- Deathspank
- Warp

People definitely have different opinions about FO3. I think it's possibly the greatest game ever made.

As a heads up, it's nothing like Borderlands, though I enjoyed that too.

DEfinitely Think this is possible. IIRC I got Fear 1+ expansions and fear 2+ dlc for 6.74 last year.

Thought I'd share my wants.

Arma II CO
Walking Dead
Dear Esther
Dragon Age (if it's really cheap)
Alan Wake American Nightmare
Frozen Synapse Red DLC

So many quality games in my backlog right now so I need to take it easy.

DA I & II combo was around 10 bucks on Amazon a couple weeks back. There was a similar deal on it a couple months ago on Amazon as well.

EA's had a few great deals on Amazon for some of their games, not so much on Steam.
