I'm not saying that it's Dungeon Siege, but it's Dungeon Siege.

75% off

Dungeon Siege Complete (only way to get 1 & 2 on Steam) - $9.99
Dungeon Siege III - $7.49
Dungeon Siege III Treasures of the Sun - $2.49
Official Prima Strategy Guide - $2.49

For anyone who has played it, is dungeon siege worth it?
Old 03-25-2012, 01:06 PM   #924
Its too bad you can't buy the first two on steam....is it true that they either stripped the mulitplayer or the multiplayer doesnt work on those?

Today's Deal is Tidalis at 50% off ($2.49)

Dungeon Siege 1 & 2 are good in my opinion. Not Diablo quality, but quite enjoyable.

DS3 is supposedly quite a bit different, maybe more action-oriented? It got some bad reviews, but also seems to have a lot of people who enjoyed it. I will be picking up the complete pack for $10, hard to see it going much cheaper in the Summer sale.

How does DS3 stand as a co-op experience? Is it a full fledged dungeon runner i.e. Diablo? Or is it the campaign, with more players?
Old 03-25-2012, 01:13 PM   #928
How will the Dungeon Siege games appeal to fans of story-based RPGs? I don't mind action-mechanics, but I get bored quickly of Diablo-style hack-and-slash.

My dad really enjoyed DS3 on his PS3. I bought the pack just for that.

Has anyone played the expansion to Dungeon Siege 2? Is it preferable to have the disc version to play it?

I have DS 1 + Legends of Aranna (Disc)
DS2 + expansion (broken world) (Disc)
and DS3 (Amazon key),

but I'm still considering picking up the bundle on Steam and selling the disc versions. Someone please talk me into (or out of) this.

Damn! I missed out on the fallout collection. Anyone got a extra?
Old 03-25-2012, 01:29 PM   #932
But... But... I only want Dungeon Siege 1 and 2... I already have 3!!!

I bit on the Fallout Collection marking my first Steam purchase! I am happy since I passed when Target clearanced these a few years back for that price or less.

The first game has a workaround to getting the multiplayer to work. It doesn't look like the 2nd game does, though.

It's the singleplayer campaign but with more players. It's going to suck if you plan on playing with random players and I wouldn't recommend doing it due to the host having complete control over the save file. Anyone that joins won't have access to their character progress after they quit the game unless they rejoin with the host's save. Should be perfectly fine if you're going to play with friends though. The multiplayer experience for DS3 is about average, it's not bad or particularly good.

I can't speak for DS2, but DS1 is primarily focused on the gameplay.. there's very little story to speak of from what I can remember. DS3's story is garbage.

From what I heard DS3 co-op is horribly implemented, since anyone who is not the host has to use a temporary character - they can't import their own and build up stats/loot, like every other Diablo-like.

Thanks. I'll pass on this one.

If I recall, there was a controversy when Steam first released DS1+2+3 Bundle b/c the old DS's on there DID NOT come w/ DS1: LOA expansion AND DS2: Broken World expansion.
And, it also didn't have the MP/Co-Op, either.
Any Steam version owners of DS1+2+3 Bundle want to confirm this or deny this? Or enlighten us?

Not sure if they ever fixed the matter, either...
DS1: LOA was developed by Mad Doc [now Rockstar New England]
DS2: Broken World was published by 2K Games, not Microsoft [Microsoft published DS2 base-game].
So, not sure if there's legal issues on re-releasing those, b/c of all of that...

You might want to keep your disc versions of ALL your Old DS games, just in case...

Well I am probably gonna get the dlc for Dungeon Siege 3. Hmm is it worth getting the complete pack for the first two games as well? Do they have any trouble running on windows 7 or anything? Also are they worth playing?

I liked both DS1 and 2.

I really liked DS1 for its fast-paced and huge-party based strategic-combat.
If that's what you want - you'll like this.
I didn't care for DS1's story or character development - which is close to non-existent.
Again, if you playing DS1 - it's for the pure gameplay.

DS2 made some leaps forward, and some backwards compared to DS1, if you ask me.
DS2 is more action-y and less strategic.
DS2: Broken World expansion [which I do NOT think comes in Steam version of the bundle - see my post a few up on DS expansions] put back in some of the strategy elements [party formations], as well.
DS2 + especially Broken World do a better job of storytelling compared to DS1.

I never tried either them on Win 7.

Well I'm biting on DS Complete. This is the cheapest it has ever been by far and this is the only way to get DS 1 and 2 on Steam.

Also there are some decent mods/total conversions for the older DS games like Ultima Lazarus.
