Besides, the move wasn't particularly sloppy and the accident wasn't even totally Ion's fault. More than anything, it was an unfortunate accident.

As far as Dixie's tweet (I'm a grown man, why am I typing the word "tweet"? Wait, I watch pro wrestling.)...what was I saying? Oh yeah, she made no comment so who knows? Speculate away.
Well, in my opinion, for what that's worth (nothing), the move was particularly sloppy, especially his body rotation and his unnecessary knee tuck.

He goes from an angled backflip since he's on the outside corner to somehow twisting his body so that his head is perpendicular to the ring/feet perpendicular to the guard rail or whatever was there.

Even if his body didn't rotate like that and he just did a simple backflip at the correct angle, it looked damn near impossible to catch him with his knees bent in the entire time.

I don't have the images or GIFs handy of other wrestlers performing corner moonsaults where they don't rotate their body position midair and they actually extend their legs so they can be caught, but they exist. HBK has done several "textbook" moonsaults that were easy to catch. Lance Storm also said something to that effect on his Twitter. But its not hard to tell the move was really screwed up.

Even if you want to say Jesse was too close in, at least if Zema didn't rotate and Zema didn't tuck his knees, it probably would have been just a hard crash and bump. There is no way that move and that spot was designed for Jesse to have to face the ring in order to catch Zema properly and avoid Zema's knees and body from breaking his neck. I just don't see how you safely catch Zema with his knees like that unless its a crossbody attack or something.

That's just my take on it from watching those GIFs and YouTube videos of the incident more times than necessary.

It is a pretty sweet card, inn't it?

Kevin Steen is doing the kind of stuff that would have every-ing-body in wrestling talking about him a decade ago. His persona, his matches - he's big time, and he deserves a lot more attention than he's getting. His match vs. Steve Corino was one of the finest matches in all of 2011 across all promotions.

Virtually every dirt sheet writer whined and cried and bitched and moaned about the match being unnecessarily brutal. What more evidence do you need than the grandaddies of all smart marks whining like marks about brutality?

Oh, for real. Their heel turn on the Briscoes didn't revolutionize wrestling booking, but you know what? It was perfectly set up and executed. Positively ing textbook.

When I'm in the mood for a burger, sometimes I don't want someone to get all crazy and add avocado, a fried egg, gorgonzola cheese, a turkey, Kool & the Gang, and a herb-and-Cointreau-infused demi-glace made with locally sourced, grain-fed Cointreau. Sometimes I do. But other times I remember why I in' love burgers. Because someone takes the simple equation of (beef + fire) + bun + cheese, and makes my goddamned heart sing.

It's not hard to make a burger. It's not too difficult to make a good burger. It takes attention, care, and knowledge to make a great in' goddamned burger that you tell your friends and family about.

That's how I feel about WGTT heel turn. It's nothing new, but it was never meant to be. It's just a staple, a classic - the sort of reason, angle, persona that got us watching in the first place, done to perfection. It deserves, like Bully Ray in 2011, to be recognized for standing out among its peers for the quality of craftsmanship lying under the hood.

I think TNA has been discussed more in the last 20 posts than in the last few months of this thread.

There's just so much that went wrong in that situation - but the thing that sticks out most to me is that there's not enough space between the ring and the guard rail.

Looks like Ion was worried about hitting rail with his shins so the knee tucking and under rotation happened..not to say the jump wasn't poorly angled but that's what it looks like happened in mid-air to me.

So you won't get it because it's on your computer screen instead of your TV screen?

IMO, that's a plausible analysis. The situation wasn't helped either by Sorenson tucking his chin into his chest. Mistakes were made by both wrestlers and unfortunately it resulted in a very serious injury.

Is it bad that my favorite part of Zack Ryder's show is now Dolph's segment?

According to an article on GameBandits.com, representatives from THQ recently reached out to former WWE Attitude Era stars, who aren’t currently under contract with WWE, for inclusion in the WWE ’13 video game.

They mentioned Sean “X-Pac” Waltman as one of the names who THQ reached out to and reportedly, Waltman was insulted by the offer.
To clarify, Xpac was insulted by the amount of money they offered, as he said it was way below what other people with that type of contract make.

Why did another jobber hijack the goddamn thread? This shit is getting redamndiculous.

So.. uh.. welcome back, Triple H:

Quote:
WWE has published their 10-K report for 2011 and it includes their wrestling contract with Paul Levesque (a/k/a Triple H). The new agreement went into effect January 1, 2012 and expires on March 30, 2016, when he is 46 years old.

Highlights:

* Levesque will be paid a 'Minimum Annual Compensation' of $1 million for each year under contract.

* Levesque will be limited to 180 dates per year, unless both parties mutually agree to extend beyond that number.

* Levesque cannot work or perform in any capacity for any 'martial arts' organization while under contract.
Of course, he'll probably be 3 dates into his 180 and tear his quad, then recoup for the rest of the year.. for the next four years.

If anyone is interested, Katarina Leigh Waters (WWE's "Katie Lea", TNA's "Winter") will be doing an interview this Sunday. You can listen to it live or download it after the show. She's going to talk about wrestling and her Scorpion DVD line Katarina's Nightmare Theater!

that language suggests the contract is only for him as a wrestler. i.e., he has another, separate executive contract where he probably get so much money that he forgets he makes $1m as a wrestler each year.
Old 03-02-2012, 02:45 PM   #36
HHH makes Hogan look humble.

That's 180 dates MAX, not a required minimum.

There's no way to remove a stipulation after a wrestling match? Are you telling me that Tori really spent Christmas with X-Pac?!?

I'm not saying it couldn't have been removed. I just don't think it needed to be. Besides, for all we know, he may get (relatively) squashed by Aries anyway.

I like X-pac's overalls in that clip.

He's like the best heel ever off wardrobe/entrance music alone and that's coming from someone who will absolutely admit to enjoying some of his matches quite a bit.
