I saw something similar on Reddit and thought it would be interesting to see what the CAG community says.

Let's start this thread with, say, items 25-dollars (USD) or under.

I'll start with BreathRx Tongue Scrapers. A three-pack for $7.11.

I have used them for almost 10 years. And I never travel without one. Just one of those inexpensive, everyday items that have become a part of my daily routine.

Goo Gone. Great for removing glue residue found on cases (I'm looking at you, Gamestop). One bottle is like a lifetime supply.

A set of socket wrenches: $10 from Amazon

A set of alan wrenches: $10 from Amazon

A set of screwdrivers: $10 from Amazon.

EVERY house should have these things (plus a bunch of other tools). [Not necessarily these exact items but definitely a set of each.]

Haha. When I was a freshman 3 years ago, I knew would need some tools, considering my dad and I work construction and basically survive on our tools. So I went to Walmart and saw a 200-something piece tool set about the size of a drill box. It included metric and standard sockets, wrenches, Alan wrenches and like 40 different screwdriver bits. All for only $15.

So I reccommend Walmart for anybody who needs the above. But I'd agree with Javery, you HAVE to own some tools. (I would also say a tape measure. There's nothing worse than not having a tape measure around.)

Also, after recently buying one, I'd say a battery charger and rechargeable batteries should be on the list too. We've all still got things that use AAs and AAAs, so we might as well save a few bucks.

There are always about 3 critical times a year where I find that I need a pair of pliers.

A printer. I don't understand how someone could have a computer and not have one.

George Foreman Grill. Kind of a pain to clean out the grease, but it's compact and works great on burgers.
