Weird. Hopefully all BB stores will start doing that so more unique titles stay around here as opposed to the tons of dupes of older crap they have in store here now.

Was in the middle of checking prices to see what I was going to trade in and Best Buy goes to maintenance. I hope this isn't the time they update TIVs...

Can anyone comment on the values on games in general between GameStop and this offer from BB. I have a GameStop literally next door to my work where as the nearest BB is close to 20 miles away. I have the regular RZ card and I also have the GS card that they give when you subscribe the Game Informer. Should I just suck it up and go to BB?

Console Bonus?

Does anyone know if this counts for consoles? I read through part of the thread but it was long and it's early. I would like to get a newer model PS3 with a bigger hd.

How old is your console? It might just be cost effective to throw a new HDD in it. I threw a 750GB HDD in there, and it's just fine.

Its an 80 gig PS3 FAT. Think I got it in 2008 or 2009

You cannot assume you'll do better in one place over the other. You have to do the work (granted it isn't much work since all it takes is a few clicks). Here are two examples:

1) Ratchet and clank all 4 one
-Gstop - $8.00 + possible 30% with 3 trade in
- Bestbuy - $10.00 x 2 = $20.00
2) Tetris DS
- Gstop - $11.00 + possible 30% with 3 trade in
- Bestbuy - $6.00 x 2 = $12.00

While the calculations on these two games make Bestbuy the better choice, this is not always true. It depends on every game, and how many of them you'll trade.
Do the math, there's no way around it.

Traded Gran Turismo 5, SOCOM4, Saints Row 2, Tropico 3, Forza 3 for enough credit on the dot to get Saints Row 3 and Mass Effect 3.

Trade-ins are jipping the gamer but when I'm broke its the best way to get games for sure. Traded out games with sequels and junk for new goodness.

Neither.

I spend $400 a month in groceries alone for my family of 6. Just throw a few months of groceries and utility bills on the RZ MC and I'm set for the year with the Silver Premiere perks.

For the best buy reward zone credit card, basically it's a 4% back card for purchases on best buy, 1% back everywhere else. With so many credit cards that give you 1% cash back (like Chase Freedom), only makes sense to get the BB card if you buy a ton of stuff there.

And remember Every year your reward zone points less than 250 are forfeited.

Are you sure?

That must only be if you get less than 250 over the course of a year.

I've never heard that nor experienced it.

UPDATE: Ah, found the FAQ ...

At the beginning of every calendar year, the points in your account (except for Reward Zone program Credit Card members, Reward Zone program MasterCard cardmembers and Premier Silver members) will be issued as reward certificates down to the $5 level, and any remaining points will be forfeited.

You will begin earning points for the new calendar year on January 1. For example, if you have 300 points, you will receive a $5 reward certificate (250 Points) and you will forfeit 50 points.

So, your points don't expire if you are a RZ MC member.

Just traded in a few games, feels pretty good, got back more than I originally spent overall so I don't feel bad, ended up getting a few Amazon GCs since there were things for decent prices on Amazon that I want.

Signed up for the Rewards Zone/Magazine too, which costed me $16 out of pocket, but ended up getting me $9 extra, at first glance that doesn't seem great but I've seen some of the coupons of the past and thought it might be a good idea, and I plan on trading in more games soon.

Appreciate the thread OP. I brought in around 29 games I couldn't sell to save my life and got a quote for about $300 because the machine wasn't set up properly for trade-ins. Hopefully they'll fix it tomorrow so I can get rid of them, but this should easily handle the rest of my gaming needs for the rest of the year.

Xbox 360

Left BB today with a bunch of games:

- Used my Welcome pack B2G1 free to pick up 2 copies of Skyrim and 1 Saints Row: The Third. I am selling all of these online which should turn me a nice cash profit + I earn the RZ points.
- Picked up MW3 for $24.99 + RZ points. Plan on doing the campaign quick and then trading it back in to BB for $29.40 TIV + RZ points.
- Picked up Dragon Age II for $5 and plan to sell online for a small profit as well + a few RZ points.

Gotta earn those RZ points and I feel almost obligated to use at least 1 @Gamers coupon per month.

Gamestop tends to be higher on 1st party Nintendo games, but BB tends to win most of the battles with current promos. I just look them all up on BB website and call a few gamestops to check TIV. You can use a basic spreadsheet to calculate the value after bonus if you don't want to do the math for each game. I just plug em in and the one with the higher trade wins.

Me too. I always get coupons and my store's selection is pretty damn slim.

all bb in my area (5+) sold out as of yesterday. but today i got lucky and saw a stack of skyrim X360 copies behind the gaming counter. used my @gamer welcome coupon for b2g1 under $39.99. gonna flip 2 on CL for $30 each. i figured this is the best game to flip using this coupon. it seems to hold it's value better than others.
