Decent System Shock 2 reads:

Ars: After protracted legal battle, System Shock 2 finally available

RPS: Interview with Stephen Kick

IGN: System Shock 2 Review (from '99)

I'm in the unusual position of having played SS1 but never saw SS2.

LOL!

Okay, let me rephrase this...

When is System Shock 1 going to be able to be officially purchasable and distributed as a PC gaming download via GOG?

Well since Stephen Kick manged to wrangle the rights to SS2 and it appeared on GOG, I'd imagine that there is increased demand and capability to get SS1 on GOG. I'm really not sure who owns rights for it, Looking Glass or Origin (pub, later bought by EA). Although I haven't played SS1 for over 17 years, I imagine it holds up well.

Wasn't SS2 in the hands of some Insurance Company? Would SS1 be part of that, too?

GOG has lowered the price on a bunch of games from $5.99/$9.99 to $3.99/$6.99 as part of an experiment to see if they'll generate more money at lower prices. Here are the full details and lists of games.

The Real Texas is on a 24 hour promo $6 (down from $15). IIRC, fox was interested in it, possibly not cheap enough yet though.

OP updated (finally).

I really want the old HoMM games, but this sale is a bit lame... Only 50% off, and they don't even have HoMM 1 and 2 on sale. This is a very, very small sale.

HoMM3 is the best in the franchise though.

I just bought Eador and King of Dragon Pass . Already had pretty much everything else.

I highly recommend also the Age of Wonders franchise

I just saw this too. Can you gift these games individually, like you could with GamersGate or something?
I am all over The Witcher for two bucks.

Yah, Inquisitor is the only one that calls to me...the rest not so much, even though many are popular games - just not my thing.

And I don't think they are individual keys, one big key and if you already have any one of the games, you can pass that on, but if you don't have any games, all 5 are yours when you redeem the key.

If anyone can confirm how gifting might work, I would be in for Deponia, Tiny and Big and Witcher.
