You guys do realize Apple is not liable for scam apps like these right? Microsoft can't sue them, I suppose they could try. They only test to see if an app works or not. I don't recall the way they are able to avoid liability exactly but it has to do with them allowing anything that works on the marketplace and then the real owners of the IP being stolen have to let Apple know of the infringement for them to pull it. Microsoft can sure sue the hell out of the people that created the app. I'm sure they will too. It's Microsoft after all.

Pokemon, COD, Halo, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, etc? I mean, Gameloft makes some nice and "cute" knockoffs...but sometimes the real thing is better.

I don't see the problem to get all 3 gaming companies on board. Apple is kind of its own market, so while Nintendo might not want Sony fanboys playing Mario on the PS3, everyone can enjoy and profit off of it if its on the AppStore for ANYONE to buy.

Apple really isn't a competitor to them anyways...
COD is on iOS.

And you are wrong about Apple not being a competitor to Nintendo.

For those with the iPhone 5, are many games actually updated for the screen?
How about graphic performance, is it really notable on certain titles?

I'm still on a 4 and the $127 price for the 5 has me thinking of upgrading.

I'm a bit Caved out, but I might pick up DODONPACHI Maximum anyway. Hmm.

Probably a stupid question but: Is it possible to delete an app without losing the data, say if you want to reinstall it later? My phone is hella full, and large apps like Infinity Blade could clear up some space, but I don't want to lose my progress in it either. I've uninstalled/reinstalled other apps and lost all data, but didn't care so much about those... (sorry if this isn't a good place to ask btw).

iGun Pro HD is free for a limited time.
All of your purchased guns and coins carry over so no need to worry about any of that. This should have just been an app update anyway.

Some games such as Infinity Blade II or Bastion use iCloud to store your saves. You could also manually backup your game saves using something iFunbox if you take the time to learn what you're doing.

Apple is a competitor but not in the traditional MS v Sony v Nintendo type of way. The iOS App Store is changing the market demand for full price games. Instead of $30-40 handheld DS/PSP games of the older days, people choosing to pay $1-2 (if at all) for a cheap and quick thrill such as Angry Birds.

I just upgraded to the 5 from my 4 a couple days ago and I really like it. So far It's been hit or miss with the games. I'd say about half the games I had on my iPhone 4 are optimized for the 5. Although all of my non-gaming apps I've used have been optimized for the 5. I don't know about anyone else but there were a couple of current games that lagged on my 4. They all run fine but sometimes there's a little bit of noticeable lag. Some that I can remember are Zombieville 2, Infinity Blade 2, and Bastion. Bastion looks great on the 5.

Install and try the free version first. I liked it, but there are load screens everywhere (on startup, before matches, after matches, when walking to the next screen, opening menus, etc), which really slows things down. The Android version is worse, but in both cases you spend as much time waiting for it to load as you do playing. I don't know if the original DS/Xbox versions were as bad, but whoever wrote the mobile versions should be embarrassed.

Rayman Jungle Run is good fun and a very high quality game. I think it's worth the regular price, but I certainly don't blame you for waiting.

A lot of Taito games have dropped to $1.99 for the first time, including all of their Bust-a-Move games:

For Cave games:

Bug Princess 2 is my favourite, though BP1 is a great one to get into Cave shooters, and is a steal at 3$. I also have DDPR HD, and though excellent, I haven't played it as much as with BP game.

That is the only Cave game I regret buying. The enemies are "not real" and are semi-transparent, as in a "simulator", which the game is supposed to be. Looks fugly and also makes them hard to see.

Not a game, but DM1 - The Drum Machine for iPad and iPhone have dropped to Free.

I also found iosmusician.com, which has an AppShopper-like list of price drops for music apps. There are quite a few good sales right now.

Most games I've been playing are still made for the smaller 4s and below screens. A good rule of thumb is to look at when the game was released. If the iPhone 5 was around then it most likely supports the new screen. Or if a game is receiving constant updates for IAP they most likely updated as well (pinball arcade is an example there). Older games getting updated for the new game doesn't seem to be happening to frequently. Angry Birds was just updated as one of the few I can recall.
