One Cave Shump is very much like another. The touch controls are huge game changers so they don't feel like their console counterparts.

Deathsmiles is quite good but the Iphone original mode is some sort of ridiculous stat-based grind. It's got an original story and the Bad End on Normal difficulty (Which you have to grind up and beat Easy to get to, then grind up and beat Normal to get.) there is so ridiculous I couldn't help but crack up* but you're just going to really want to stick to the Arcade mode.

Another note on Deathsmiles, if you are playing it on an iPad and are jailbroken, I highly suggest downloading RetinaPad from Cydia. I recommend it for all iPhone apps on iPad, but it definitely noticeably improves Deathsmiles.

I'm taking this as a Bug Princess endorsement because it's not too pricy and universal.

Thanks for the hot tip on iTunes cards at Von's. 6 $10 cards for $36. Awesome!
Of course, I already bought more apps than I should have, thanks to holiday price drops...

This is showing the regular price for me.

Cool looks like I'll be looking into iFunbox. Thanks for the tip. Frustrating that you the phone can't separate app data (saves) from the app and keep the data when uninstalling, but as long as there's a workaround I'm a happy camper

After reading your conversation on Hero Academy and checking out the steam deal on it, I decided to take a leap of faith, and I'm glad I did. Very good game, I really enjoy the extra challenges to play while waiting for other players.

I just purchased this myself on steam to play on my ipad. Definitely addicting. I already put in a few hours. Definitely a game I can play when my GF is giving me the evil eye while at the PC. I can take the ipad and enjoy it on the couch next to her. lol.

For what it's worth, the first Dodonpachi (Not Blissful Death or Maximum.) is probably one of the better buys because it has a fantastic Iphone exclusive mode (A dual-sided score meter where you graze bullets to build up a combo and then blast crap to cash in and UNLEASH THE FURY.). Bug Princess 1 is old by Cave standards but got released after they finally punted these crappy Iphone modes. It's a newer "product," an older game, after they finally figured out a way forward on all this overlay main menu crap.

It should still be great and a great way to get into the series though it's actually backlogged for me. The only score mechanic there is to just change shot types when the score color changes so it's a good focus on shooting without the wacky three-tier scoring of EG2 or the awful chaining crap of the DDPs.

Note that the difficulties actually I think hide the original arcade difficulty at the next to highest or highest difficulty so if you want to slide your finger through the tightest patterns you should ask for a rougher flavor than just Normal.

Worth noting: DDP Maximum is smartphpne exclusive and built around one level at a time gameplay which makes it better for bite-sized plays. There is no saving in the other shumps outside of app task switching and that's always a crap shoot as to when the Iphone will zap the saved app.

From appshopper these are the lowest theyve ever been...I remember debating on he iPhone version for 11.99 last Christmas but I never bit, this year it's 7.99 and 8.99 on iPad (looks like the first time its had a discount for iPad). If it was universal I'd buy it but I'm going to pass unless they magically make it universal or $5 or less.
