Thanks, I hope they bring it back soon...

Just got an iPad this past weekend. Any adventure game suggestions, beyond TellTale's stuff?

Beside TellTale's games and the Monkey Island 1 and 2 Special Editions:

Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP
Broken Sword Director's Cut
Machinarium
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective (absolute favorite)

Can anyone recommend any good Shmups for the iPad? Are there even any?

There are lots of Cave bullethell. They are rather pricey, but cheaper than you would have to pay for the console versions.

you might want to try out Toon Shooters. It went free last week, and still is. I've only played a couple levels so far... at first I thought it might be too easy but now as I progress I'm not sure.

It's got a very 'toon' look to it, but the controls seem solid. You earn money for completing levels, and can upgrade your ship. There also seem to be around 10 or so ships you can unlock (each requiring upgrades), though i've only played with one so far.

Bosses seem standard fare (bullet hell with weak points).

I'm having fun with it so far. I don't know if there is IAP to get upgrades faster, but I don't think it would be needed. I was having a blast on the first level just trying to get a perfect score (100/100/100, meaning no damage, all kills, 100 coins collected)... so far, i'm at 100/100/99. I hope that last 100 is possible, lol.

I think my favorite shooter is one of the cheaper ones (99 cents and free lite version to try): Hypership Out of Control. Very fun game.

Heh, played all those.

Wow, can't believe Ghost Trick is free on iOS. That one was fantastic on DS.

Ghost Trick isn't free. It has IAP to unlock the other chapters. First one is free, I think.

Death Smiles is my favorite bullet hell shmup on iOS. I prefer it to the console version since the touch controls make it much easier to maneuver. Espgaluda II is also very good. I play the iPhone version on my iPad rather than the more expensive HD version.

Ah, that makes more sense.

If you like the Ghost Trick game, the 1st Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney game is also available.

Beneath a Steel Sky, although it is currently $2.99, not sure I'd have paid that. Currently playing City of Secrets. Try one of the lite/free versions. Be aware that there are 3 paid versions (not including MacOS) -- iPhone, iPad, and Universal -- each is currently on sale for 99 cents (including the MacOS version). I would assume the version to get would be the Universal, I would think it would be optimized for both platforms. I have the iPhone version - I don't think the Universal was available when I got it. Some of the Big Fish HOGs have adventure elements (the Drawn games, specifically, are quite good), but don't get them if you don't like HOGs, of course, and wait for one of Big Fish's semi-annual 99 cent sales (Most Big Fish games have both a freemium IAP trial and a clearly marked "Full" version. During their sales, they also discount the IAP).

Speaking of hidden object games, which are the best on IOS? My wife loves them; she tends to like ones with personality that also have cool little puzzles inbetween, etc. (we're both digging 'Shiver' on pc).

I'd downloaded around 5 of them from various companies during free promotions, only to get the bait and switch 'even though we gave you the premium version for free, once you launch it it still needs a paid unlock'. Deleted them all on principal.

Centipede: Origins just went free! Looks like it's kind of a reboot to the classic Centipede game.

Dynamite Jack is now a universal app. Plus if you buy it in the next 48 hours you get the PC/Mac version free:

absolutely ruined by IAP in my opinion.

gameplay seems smooth and solid at first, but the meta-mechanics and difficulty spikes are broken.

if i had paid for this i would have been -pissed-.

I don't really think there is a clear best hidden object, but pretty much every single big fish one is good and they are all of similar quality and most have puzzles in between. The drawn series is probably the most popular.

Sorry for no link, but appzilla 3 came out today, and has about 150 different apps in it. For 0.99 and only 50 mb of storage I think it's a great deal.
