In regards to Puzzlecraft, when your level is in the high teens, you have the options to build upgrades that allow you to collect rats with grass and wolves as well. Once you get that, they're no longer annoying. It's so great.

Really impressed by NOVA 3, especially compared to Resistance Vita which I just played through. Must have for 99 cents.

so I beat 1000000.
and, while I want to love this game, I just don't. It's almost there -- i love the combination of endless runner + match 3 + rpg. but i also see it as missed potential. my main critiques: 1) as already stated, 'column slide' match 3 is my least favorite type of match 3) 2) the 'upgrade system' is flawed. sure, you can upgrade your weapons, armor, shields, magic... and even buy perks. but at NO time did any of these upgrades actually change my playing style. in comparison, upgrades in, say, Dungeon Raid can drastically alter your style. that gives a true sense of progression. 100000 felt like the same grind, over and over. 3) the timer should stop during matches... it's painful to watch a massive chain in effect, you can't make your next move, but the chain takes so long to complete that you get run off the side by an enemy. not fun, just frustrating. i spent several hours beating it, and it's probably worth playing. but... it could have been so, so much more. i don't understand the 5/5 raves for such an obviously flawed game... i give it a 5/5 for potential, and for what it tried to accomplish... but a 3/5 for what it actually did. |

The DS port of Square Enix's The World Ends With You is out on iOS now. There's a separate version for iPhone and iPad, so the game isn't universal unfortunately. Like with most of Square Enix's ports to the iOS, they are relatively expensive compared to what we're used to paying for games on these devices: The World Ends With You: Solo Remix (iPhone) - $17.99 The World Ends With You: Solo Remix (iPad) - $19.99 A description of the new additions to the iOS version can be seen here: http://www.square-enix.co.jp/subaras...ix/en/new.html I haven't played the original DS version before, though I've heard it's a great game. I'm considering the iPhone version at the moment, but you can get the DS version from Amazon for about $20 right now. It seems like Square Enix put in a decent amount of effort into this iOS port though and, to me, seems like it might be worth getting. Any thoughts from you guys? |

If you haven't played it before, I think $20 is worth it. While I liked the original enough to finish the campaign, I didn't like how they handled a lot of the important story elements with the post-game extras. I'm not sure if I'm willing to drop $20 on the game again. However, the change to a single-screen battlefield is a big deal in terms of gameplay and story. The story is decent, but I'm not a big fan of the characters.

For what it's worth, a friend of mine whose tastes in games I usually trust has told me that the DS version is one of his favorite games of all time. I picked it up (DS version) based on his recommendation a while ago, but still have yet to get around to playing it. Seem like every time I have time/am in the mood for an RPG, something else ends up getting priority. |

I can recommend Metal Slug 3, especially on the iPad, but it is good on iPhone too. On iPad the game looks really fantastic and plays well. No it's not perfect control wise, but it's quite playable. I use windowed mode on the iPad too.
I can also highly recommend Dynamite Jack. It's on sale for 99c. It's universal and is a lot of fun. Stealth game with flashlights and bombs. http://appshopper.com/games/dynamite-jack Sale may be ending soon as it says "this weekend". So if you're going to get it, get it soon. |

Edit: OK, now it has actually dropped to 99 cents. Worth the upgrade from the non-HD version? Opinions? Last edited by guessed; 08-27-2012 at 11:16 AM.. |
