Amazon is selling brand new ones for less (at least the reasonable 16gb).

That is atrocious. My 4GB is nearing full capacity, but I'll wait for those prices to drop more.

Depends on what you use it for. IMO, a 4GB is sufficient enough if you plan on buying the cartridge games, install some Vita apps (youtube, skype, etc), and buy a couple of DLC/updates for the games.

However, if you plan on doing digital or plan on DL stuff, then 4GB is way too low. You can store either ~1 vita game, ~2-3 PSP games, or ~1-3 Vita demos depending on their size files. There is a rumor (not sure if it was confirmed or not) where Vita games do load faster on cartridge than on the memory card. Videos and music depends on your bit rate and settings.

My 8-gb card is nearly full and I just got mine 2 weeks ago. Games aren't small these days...

These prices are 4x what they should be. No vita for me as a result.

Surely you can't expect Sony to sell 4gb memory cards for $2?

I think you have an extra dollar sign in the title.

As for the price of memory cards, Sony is selling the system at a loss to keep it at a price people will buy, they are obviously trying to offset this loss with a high profit margin on the memory cards. It's better than a 350$ unit that takes SD cards, you think the system sales are bad now, imagine at that price point.

I agree. I love my Vita and will eventually get a bigger card but my 8gb will do for now. At the size of most Vita games, even a 32gb will run short. Buy the physical games if the memory card are out of your price range. You always pay extra for convenience.

Yeah, I was thinking about going this route. Maybe I'll have at least 2 cartridge games.

I think it's crazy to DL the games at full price when you can resell the physical copies if you want.

I don't think its fair to say 1 game is 2 GB. They can be anywhere from 1 to 3 GB as far as I've seen. MGS HD Collection would only leave a few hundred MB on a 4GB.

8gb is my sweet spot since I have only a small interest in digital games since the TiV of physical vita games are so high.
