I recommend turning strategy pad quicklinks on if you haven't already(like it was in Madden 10)

Hot routes and audibles are alot quicker this way and it just feels much more natural. Also, turn off auto-strafe and auto-sprint.

I played the panther and rg3, granted he didnt run much with rg3, i put my best dl in qb contain, and it seemed to me everytime i did he would drop about a yard back from the los and right in front of the qb. my best advice would be sub in your fastest dl that has pretty good awareness and just play him in qb spy, that way if he runs he has a better chance of getting their, and two if not you can alway drop him back when you see someone crossing the middle of the field. That's just my opinion.

Thanks for all the tips guys. I have been trying to user my LB's more often after that advice was given (I believe by BV). It does make it easier to cover runs to the outside and passes across the middle.

Yup, I was talking about it earlier with Rob, but getting better at Madden is such a painstakingly long process because the people who are already good have been good for a LONG time. Catching up to them is unlikely, so you just have to make marginal improvements.

I've been working on it pretty hardcore for over a year now, and I'm JUST now getting a feel for usering and jumping routes. Learning all the dpad shortcuts is also critical and knowing what plays are good for covering what. To me, offense is always the easy thing for people to pick up. But shutting down another team's offense takes a hell of a lot of thought, effort, and time.

Great point n8, and if you couldnt tell by my number 1 offense and number 32 defense i would fall into that category

but falcons improve to 3-3 with 24 points scored in the 4th quarter to mount a comback.

Falcons 31 Raiders 28

Matt Ryan once again threw for over 300 yds but only 1 TD
Ex- Raider Taiwan Jones had 4 TDs with less than a hundred yards.

Darren McFadden can trip off a curb and break his big and pinky toes. Idk how many yards he ran for but it was quite a few. GG Flyersfan.

That's one thing I have not been able to figure out yet. I can stop scrambles pretty effectively, but the designed QB runs just kill me.

yeh agreed lol

Defense is by far the most difficult to master. The best thing you can do is learn all the pre-snap adjustments and pay attention to how your opponent reacts in different situations. Most people fall back on their go to play on third and long so by the end of the first quarter you have a general guess as to what play they will be running and who they look to most in those critical situations.

Someone I played a couple weeks ago came out playing great. After a couple third down plays (where people usually go to their "comfort" play) I figured out he liked throwing to guys coming across the middle when he really needed the yards. He completed a few of them for good yardage. Then came the second quarter and a long third down play. My first thought was he is going across the middle to someone. So knowing most crossing routes in a 5 wide formation come from the inside slot I had my corner shade him to the inside. The ball is snapped, his go to man is no longer open, he panics, throws a pick 6. Without the little pre-snap adjustment its a catch and a first down. That leads to frustration which then causes the opponent to fall even further back into his "comfort plays" and become more predictable.

Just ask BV when I played him in the other league. He figured out my gameplan early on, I got frustrated and fell back into more and more passing play that he could see coming from a mile away. He beat me 35-7 or something like that.

A big part of playing defense in Madden is being able to out think the offense. And that really just comes by playing a lot of madden. Do yourself a favor though and learn the pre-snap controls.

GG. I had a few crazy plays. That play where I scored a defensive td I've never seen before in this game, granted I don't play a lot of Madden. My guy was in the backfield after a great jump and I stole the toss for Jones.

And that long run with McFadden where it looked like I got tackled but rolled off the pile and gained more yards, that was pretty cool.

I don't think I ever used Jaquizz, I was planning on it but Run DMC ran effective enough.

Anybody waiting on trades, give me some time. I've got an extremely busy day today, and I doubt I"ll be available much until late this evening. Just don't want anybody expecting to hear anything soon.

N8 are you planning on advancing tomorrow evening or waiting until Saturday morning to actually advance. Just wondering how much time i still have to actually schedule this game.

Well, I"ll most likely be up late tomorrow night, so I could conceivably advance us at like 3 AM EST. If I did it Saturday, it would probably be around noon.

Why do pros from the varsity play in the JV league as well? Just curious how its supposed to make you better if you are playing the same as the other league...

No just some of the other folks... In over here because I am thinking about dumping the varsity league. It's just not fun not getting past the 50 yard line every game.
