Another thing we need to really figure out is the free agent situation. I agree that having a free for all with teams that have a lot of cap space probably isn't the best thing, but in this little test league I created, the CPU goes after free agents pretty damn aggressively. On the first day, Jeremy Shockey, Donovan McNabb, and James Farrior were scooped up (probably others too...but those were the big three I noticed). So, the problem that creates is that if we limit ourselves...the CPU will just sign everybody.
Maybe that's the entire point of having a salary cap? The teams with lots of cap space SHOULD be able to sign more players? And I could have sworn that I read that players will take a few days to decide if they want to sign with you depending on the offer you made them, but I just went to sign a free agent (Plaxico Burress), and the only option was "Sign to 1 year contract". And when I chose this, it signed him with no hesitation. So, that means other teams wouldn't be given any heads up of contract talks to be able to engage in a bidding war or anything (which to me actually would be fair). I'm open to opinions on this one because I'm not really loving either option.

Reading some bad things on OS in regards to difficulty. Apparently the difficulty in CCM is completely different from the difficulty in Play Now. People are saying that All-Madden in CCM plays like Pro in Play Now. This is why leagues don't start right away. We've got a lot of work to do.

Free-for-all
Here is my reasoning behind that. If people want to blow all their money on free agents then they won't have any room when it comes to making trades. I think that balances everything out. |

Yeah, I just got DVO to join the dummy league so we could test if it was any different if there was more than one human owner in the league. I was watching the news feed, and right before my eyes it tells me that he signed Chad Johnson. No option to make my own offer, no "Bills are in talks with Chad Johnson" message to give any kind of heads up whatsoever. Also, you can't even negotiate with the player. It's all one year deals...for a set amount of money. Like I said though, if we limit ourselves too much, the CPU teams are just going to sign those players anyway though.

i think we should wait till about the end of september possibly give the league more time to fill up and not have to deal with as much computer shit people arent going to like that to much but it is wut it is. we can fill this league up if we just wait a little bit and gives everyone some practice time with the game. also gives everyone plenty of time to figure out there style of schemes that works well with there team so they can get there coaching style to match there team and there style of play. it will also make the league better if people know the game better and like i have said before gives it more time to fill up. i dont think it will be as fun with a ton of computer players. i know we are all excited to get the league going but we also have to think about how we can make the league more enjoyable for everyone
wut about resigning players also can u talk them or is that all pre set? wut about after a season goes by do players just go to FA or do they talk to the team that owned them before? i was also hoping to be able to change teams to the Bucs worst team in the game i beleive maybe not but close i really want to try building a team from complete scratch Last edited by DVO21; 08-26-2012 at 06:44 PM.. |

Yeah, I don't think we'll be waiting THAT long to start. The risk you run with that the people who signed up losing interest and disappearing. I'm disappointed that the CPU can just sign players whenever they feel like too, but I feel like we'd have more to lose by waiting than we'd have to gain. New people could always be added mid-season, but I'd have to have to try to replace any we've already got.
As for your other questions, I'll go ahead and sim the dummy league to the offseason and then we can see what options there are for re-signing players. I hope there is some kind of negotiation process because I know they've had that stuff offline in year's past, and to talk CCM up so much and then oversimplify that stuff would just be lame as hell. |

Let's just get this out there to see how people feel about it. DVO is unhappy with his selection of the Bengals and would like to switch to another team. Would anybody be adamently opposed to that?
Also, I can confirm that when your opponent selects an onside kick this year, it doesn't tell you. As many improvements as EA made to this game, that is the dumbest ing thing I have ever heard to change. In a game that strives for realism, we can't see our ing opponent lining up on the field for a kickoff until we've already selected our formation. Basically, this is an asshole's wet dream come true for ranked play. So, basically, now any time you THINK your opponent might try an onside kick, you need to choose "onside recover", and then as soon as you see he's not lined up for one, audible to regular formation (this is obviously nothing against you, DVO. I expected you to go for one...then had to audible...then didn't know what to do when you called timeout, lol. It's just a situation that shouldn't even be an issue). As I said...dumb as shit.

But then won't that leave your blockers on a regular kick mostly "hands" players? Perhaps you should have to send a message or something to let them know you're attempting an onside kick. It's
ing idiotic that we even have to deal with this in the first place.

If you mean the second one, that's what I've been trying to figure out. Last year, against scrambling QBs, I would often highlight one (or both) of my DEs, press A, and then be able to tell him to QB Spy from the pop up menu. I don't know how to access that naymore. |
