Shovelware is on every system, and the majority of it is on PC, so kindly shut the up and get out of this thread.

Because it's "cosmetic", as opposed to the Season Pass DLC, which gives you a few new missions. I heard the same thing about the Killing Floor DLC, saying that it was useless and "cosmetic".

Am I weird for liking more "cosmetic" customization? I dunno.

That said, I do love character driven games (mostly RPGs) that have set characters. Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy Tactics, Legend of Dragoon... all some of my favorite games of all time that wouldn't have worked very well if you could create your own custom character. You can't replace Serge, Kid, Ramza, Delita, etc.

I can't say anything about Sleeping Dogs though. I know nothing about it, although all I hear is good.
I don't need every game to be the same.

If every game had customization-galore, I'd be bored.
If every game had pre-set characters, I'd be bored.

I love my fully-customized SR3 character.
Also, I totally loved The Nameless One character in Planescape: Torment and its incredible story and prose.

I never understand this argument. SR3 wasn't refreshing to me and games don't feel overwhelmingly serious these days. I play a lot of them. I mean, in RE5 I am regularly shooting zombies such that I can grab them and headbutt them with such immense manly power that their skulls splatter completely. And then I'm playing GCI, a game with I think a much better sense of humor than SR3.

Hell, Sleeping Dogs, half the reason I like it is that the random acts of violence you can commit feel so much more satisfying and over the top.

When I describe something as cosmetic, I do it with the idea that you can just LOOK at it and decide if it is worth $5 to you or whatever the cost.

I can make a green alien female with a male voice who wears a super hero costume. Is it worth a few bucks more to get a nun costume? Do I want to pay a few dollars to get purple variations of military vehicles I pretty much already own?

Don't get me wrong, there are a few things in the various DLC that make me smile... shooting fish guts at a pedestrian and watching a shark pop out of the pavement and gobble him up... running some guy down with my man-a-pult or a huge ball of yarn. But for the most part it's pointless and then I'm back to the main game.

Oh yeah, I bought it all, but I can't say I've gotten my moneys worth.... even having bought it dirt-cheap.
I know what you mean. I mean, along those lines, I guess I don't care about paying for a new weapon as much as I do about a nice selection of clothing customizations. I wouldn't pay a few bucks to dress up as a nun, or have a halo or devil horns (that's a really dumb DLC), but I did pay $0.75 for the Steelport Gangs Pack because I thought the clothes looked pretty badass, and the Genki Girl Pack because, well... okay, maybe I have a problem.

I guess I just see mission DLC the same as you see cosmetic DLC. I go through the mission once, I'm done, I'll probably never do it again. If I buy something cosmetic, I can use it on my character/s (I tend to make a lot of them in games like SR3 or TES games) for as long as I want, regardless of what mission I'm on or what I'm doing. It just feels like I can get more out of it I guess.

Or we can just shut up and buy EVERYTHING.

EDIT@RollingSkull: Well, I don't think I was referring to you in particular, but I guess that is a different definition than what I was thinking.

Here is how Deus Ex goes. HR is a prequel yes, but play the first Deus Ex first because it's over 10 years old. Then play HR.

Yes every hardcore Deus Ex fan knows there was only two Deus Ex games. The first and HR. . Ok most real Deus Ex fans try to forget the fact that IW even exists, lol.

I play tons of games, too.

About RE5 and many other games - sure, if you look at what's going on, it's not super-duper serious. But, most games purposely do TRY to take the serious tone. Sure, they might throw jokes, references, and those kind of things here and there - but not to the extent saw SR3 does.

SR3 deliberately tries to be self-aware, crass, reference other things in pop culture, poke fun and critique things in its own genre (GTA-style game), try to be ridiculous, and the laundry list could just go on and on.

As great as GTA4 was, I probably can't remember portions of the story, here and there. Ballad of Gay Tony was much more memorable for me, though. SR3, though - I can tell you most of the missions and what happened in them.

I am looking forward to SD. Sure, like most action games, I'm sure it's over-the-top in its action and violence - but I'd say it's probably a much different kind of over-the-top than what SR3 probably has given us.

SR3....just is over-the-top in every single way it can be - story, gameplay, missions, jokes, references, side quests.

HR happens first chronologically, but Deus Ex GOTY is still the "beginning."

How are the Deus Ex games in general? Honestly never played them. I'm thinking about picking up Human Revolution from GameStop downloads, or should I just get the original GOTY edition? My friend told me the second one wasn't too good...

The deals for the THQ Pack (is this really a good deal?), Mafia II, SR3, and Shatter look good too along with Deus Ex. I can't get them all tho :( & then there's Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath which I've always wanted to try. Any y'all think that could get cheaper than it is now

Also would Assassin's Creed II for $6 over at GameStop PC downloads be a good deal too if I wanted to try out AC? Never played one but always wanted to try it.

This is just a guess, but I'm thinking FTL might be in the Deep Space Bundle/bundle in a box 2

I don't see why they can't answer if it's a coincidence lol.

I think this is the same reason I found Matt Hazard so bland, the same reason I didn't like SR3. Too madcap and random. Too "Meet the Spartans." Not enough "Spaceballs."

I really doubt one of the first games to be kickstarted is going to risk the bad PR from being in a bundle day one. Not to mention that FTL is getting a decent amount of positive press so I would not exactly expect Bundle in a Box of all the bundlers out there to be the ones to snag it.

You never know, there was a similar situation with Botanicula. Also, the first bundle in a box had a newly released game in it.
