yeah, mine says "Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward (with Pre order bonus item)"

Well, there's no way Aksys will be able to get watches to Amazon in time to fulfill the 1st batch of preorders. It's just a matter of whether it's worth the cost/goodwill to send those people watches after the fact.

I'm one of the folks getting shafted. I ordered on the day it was listed on amazon. Kinda annoyed I preordered so far in advance and end up short changed. But really I wasn't gonna wear the watch or anything.

I think you're right about what happened. That second batch of watches was for everyone who pre-ordered before 9/14. But now that they've allocated them to the third group of people (what was it, the 23rd?) they don't have any for the first group.

You'd think Aksys would just make more watches but maybe they can't run enough to justify the cost and get them to amazon in time.
From what I've seen yes you are fine if you didn't get an email and your order says (with Pre order bonus item). If anyone that ordered the proper sku (with watch) and doesn't get it I'd be pretty surprised. Someone would have to have really dropped the ball for that to happen.

Here's basically what I think happened (note I think this but do not at all know this):

I dont know where the screw up happened but I know the Aksys rep at Neogaf knew about the second wave of watches being sold by Amazon. He gave people a heads up that the second wave was coming. So that second batch of watches was not for the original orders.

Anyone know if the watch bonus ever specifically said that it would be applied to existing pre orders? If so, there is definitely some fault on Amazons part.

I think Aksys talked to Amazon about the availability of the watch for people that pre ordered before the watch was added as a bonus, so they may very well have gotten bad info from Amazon. To me it seems like Amazon may have told Aksys that yes all the existing orders would get a watch when that wasn't really the case.

I'm just gathering this from what I've read on Neogaf. I don't know if any of that is correct or not. If it is though, Amazon gave some bad info to Aksys so they are at fault for that. Aksys however should have erred on the side of caution and not told people they would get the watch when it turned out to not be true. Personally I'd blame Amazon more here since Aksys only told people they'd get the watch because of the bad info from Amazon.

I am almost wondering now if the second wave of watch pre-orders Amazon listed were supposed to be applied to the early pre-orders and they just screwed up and listed them instead. I received an email response from Amazon saying that my issue needs to be handled over the phone but according to a lot of other people who have called, Amazon is just shrugging their shoulders. If nothing is resolved soon before release I am just going to cancel my pre-order and buy the game used later on so neither Amazon nor Aksys get my money directly. Maybe use the money I save by trying to get the watch on ebay assuming they aren't going for outrageous prices. I still have the watch from 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors at least.

Here is the official response from Aksys about the issue:

Wow, sounds like a pretty big screw up.

Even though my order says I'll get the watch, I'm worried that I won't.

Amazon should talk to Aksys about allocating more watches after the fact.

On one hand, people feel that Amazon should rescind their arrangement, so the pre-orders are fulfilled for those who ordered first. Others feel they ordered on a false pretense (i.e. they would have changed their order had they known they wouldn't receive their item). For me, I think due to how it's described that my order will come with the watch, it's kind of hard to change things.

They are pretty much screwed either way though. At the moment, just the original pre-orderers are pissed off. If they change it to give all the watches to the original ones, then the newer ones will be pissed off.

Outside of making a new batch of watches somehow, I dont see this ending well for lots of people

Does anyone have any info on if Amazon made an official statement on the item page that said "all preorders before *date* will receive the preorder item as well"? I know aksys said it as official.

Way I see it is, if you preorder before it is officially listed on amazon as having it, its not something you are guaranteed. I'm shafted on mine as well, but I went off the fact that I ordered it before it was listed, and also the only official statement was from aksys saying "you'll get it", not from amazon other than a few people saying customer reps said so, which we all know how much info they are given. I just don't see the need to rage so hard at amazon like some people are doing.

I think what made matters worse is Aksys told people not to cancel their order if you preordered before the watch was announced. Personally, I would've cancelled and reordered anyway. If my order didn't have the preorder bonus listed somewhere or link to a different SKU than the regular edition, then I wouldn't trust that I'd be getting it.

Even though I was chastised for saying so earlier, I think they should just produce and sell the watches separately. Even if they don't, I agree that they should make more. I feel like both Amazon and Aksys should share the blame here.

This is one area that Atlus exceeds at. Whenever there was an issue with a bonus item or content, they always go out of their way to fix the issue. It would be nice if Aksys followed suit.

while this SERIOUSLY sucks for a bunch of folks, this post from the Aksys forum amuses me..

THAT is what I am most upset about. If there had never been any statement, from both Aksys and Amazon, that preorders made before Sept 17 would be honored, I wouldn't be as disappointed as I am right now. It honestly feels like my heart was ripped out of my chest and I'm watching it get stomped on.

Well the perceived value is higher because they are going for over $100 on ebay already. And I don't mean just listed, they're actually being bought for those prices.

I agree just to give more profits to Aksys Games and Amazon. They both should sell the watches on their websites separately from the game as well, just to drive down the prices by resellers.

Had to go read the threads there myself.

So, now to reward the scalpers and late entries, it's insulting and, truth be told, criminal.
It's criminal now, is it?

I know how people feel. I've been shafted on pre-orders way too many times as well (from no pre-order bonus from ordering 10 months in advance, to Gamestop gutting my copy because it was the only one that was shipped to that store).

A lot of what people are saying is incorrect though. Just cause I ordered it on Amazon in September for the watches, doesn't mean I was a late comer to pre-ordering the game. I had it pre-ordered at another retailer before most of the people posting, months before they announced that it was going to be an Amazon exclusive. So it's not actually like they're shafting early adopters -- just the Amazon ones.

I'm never buying from Aksys or Amazon again!

Except for Zero Escape and any other games I'm interested in they release and only when there's a good deal for something at Amazon.

But other than those times never again!

Someone want to summarize the issue for me? I really don't want to read all 19 pages.

My preorder is still sitting there and says "with preorder bonus".

Orders from before the "With Preorder Bonus" batch popped up were supposed to get upgraded to watches for free. Apparently they arent, so people are mad.
