I know there was a previous thread for the game at $19.xx here but I felt a new thread was justified for $14.99.

I've got three words for anyone even remotely interested in this or its sequel Virtue's Last Reward:

shoot, just looked up the sequel and its on 3DS instead of NDS.

Yes, they changed the box art of 999 when they did a reprint.

It is a great interactive novel with puzzle elements. If you can't stand reading a lot of text then it is not the game for you. Otherwise if you enjoy a good story, it is highly recommended.

If I had to guess, maybe 5-7 hours for a first playthrough and 15-20 hours if you wanted to get every ending (which I highly, highly recommend doing).

What I remember best about 999 is sitting in bed playing until 4am almost every night, and occasionally in the afternoon, so the exact length of my playtime is a bit hazy. I was addicted.

Yes, to go along with the sequel, since they are the same series. Nothing was changed in the game.

This is a game that's likely to go OOP sooner rather than later, and at 14.99, its worth putting in your backlog (heck, it's worth putting at the top of your backlog).

Great game. I recommend playing the first time without a FAQ, and the following playthroughs with a guide on how to get the true ending. You might not figure out how to get the real ending on your own, since there's a certain path and dialogue choices you need to make.

I just wish the reprinted covers weren't so ugly. I prefer the original print better.
