Those PSone RPGs are all untranslated right? The price is certainly cheap, but does anyone actually buy a game where they don't understand anything that's happening?

I realize not everyone follows the thread on a daily basis, but it is getting kind of tiring seeing the same basic questions being asked over and over about sales, plus games, and other stuff that is either available in the OP or could easily be googled.

Any word on Prince of Persia: Rival Swords or Assassin's Creed Bloodlines? (I'd be getting either for the vita). I am a fan of both series, but don't know how the experiences of these games compare with the experiences I have had with my console games. I know the graphics won't be as good, but how is the gameplay?

When Frisky doesn't update the title before the sales, he gets ripped for not updating it in a timely manner and people complain that there is a need for more PSN threads.

When he does update the title before the sale, he gets ripped for "not specifically showing the sale" which isn't even live yet.

Yeah, none of those imports look appealing since I can't read Japanese. I'll pass this time on the imports. If they bring more shmups, platformers, and fighters I'll be interested.

I agree on all accounts, but I find as though getting all hot and bothered about it isn't as easy as just pointing people in the right direction (within reason, of course; if it's blatantly mentioned in the OP, I don't see why they should be asking in the first place).

All that said, I don't feel as though I show my appreciation to Frisky for all his efforts enough. Thanks a million for the thread and the immensely helpful updates, Frisky. Your work is truly the work of saints.

i think game recommendations are a really important part of this thread, especially since we're often talking about psn games that often don't get the amount of attention by reviewers that bluray games do -- not to mention often appeal to more niche tastes due to 'experimental' gameplay.

Indeed. It's been free for PS+ and on sale plenty of times, but if anyone has somehow still missed it, I'd definitely recommend picking it up.

As for the sales ending today, I did buy Sumioni. There's definitely some potential for regret, so I guess I'll find out. And based on the discussion here the other day about Big Sky Infinity, as well as Frisky's video, I decided to re-try the demo. I still can't say that I "loved" it, but I enjoyed it much more than I did the first time. I decided to buy Big Sky instead of Sine Mora, which I already own on the 360.

This week Rayman (Vita) and I Am Alive are both definite buys.

I just played Sound Shapes last week and loved it so I bought the current dlc even though beat school is my least favorite mode.

Yeah same here although they could have clarified the No English point a little better I think.

Every single game has screenshots prominently featuring Japanese text, a cover image with Japanese text, and a full paragraph detailing just how much Japanese text is involved in playing the game. How do you look at that and say that it's not clarified?

Look I know people in this thread love to rip people a new one for not knowing things but people aren't born knowing things. You learn. And yes I checked and I figured out it was probably untranslated Japanese but a little more clarity right from the get go would have been nice and wouldn't have been hard to do.

I have seen cases before where games used Japanese screenshots to sell English versions of the games because they just hadn't gotten around to taking English screenshots or whatever reason. There are even some games up on Google Play that do this so while it's silly on the part of those trying to properly market the game it's not entirely unheard of either. I've also seen games where you can switch the language between Japanese and English. It's not that common but again not completely unheard of either.

I'm sorry if people get butthurt by my saying a little bit more clarity would have been helpful to me or think it's hand holding but in my opinion more information and clarity at the beginning is not a bad thing, especially with a long blog post.

please post your thoughts on sumioni when you're able, there's a mysterious lack of info on that title (other than some tepid reviews from major outlets). and I like the request/giving of recommendations on games, I use this thread for that a lot. keep asking.

I'm actually enjoying Big Sky more than Sine Mora - it has that jetpack joyride feel with the randomness and linearity. I'm really glad I picked up both, they both fill different niches for me.

After today I'll be about $102 in for the promo which is waaaay more than I normally spend on psn. So good job Sony.

Sony is digging a lot more money out of my wallet this time too along with the spend 50 get 10 and the 10 dollars I got free last month. I'm around $70 right now heavily debating on trying to reach $100. I Am Alive and Lumines are a maybe for me this week.

Totally agree. I didn't pick up that these were all untranslated right away. Granted, I only perused the post, but you would initially assume they were in English since, ya know, they are being released in America and most of those games are unplayable if you can't read the text, but whatever. I suspect of the people who buy these games, most will do so not knowing the games are Japanese only and will be totally pissed because of it.
