A bundle like this completely destroys the market for any game featured in it for a good period of time afterwards. THQ is willing to do it, but the only reason that THQ is doing it is because they are desperate and they're trying to fight off extinction.

I suppose that you might one day see another big publisher desperate enough, but it aint happening anytime soon.
Sometimes the opposite can happen though(highly unlikely in this case). I remember that Amnesia sales actually rose up during HiB 5 and it still sells like hotcakes every time it goes on sale. SPAZ also had a similar situation recently, after being in HiB 6

I pretty much bought it for the Saints Row 3 soundtrack, BTA to give all the games to my friend, and learned after that the OST didn't include any of the licensed radio tracks. Doh!

They probably set a maximum buy limit because of all the assholes who were doing the steam winter sale coal farming last year and buying 100's of keys for a penny a piece and making multiple accounts to get a ton of entries to win the grand prize. The coal fiasco that happened is the same reason why now you need to pay a dollar minimum to get steam keys from any Humble Bundle.

I have been thinking about picking up Metro so to get all that for about what I would pay for it is a plus.

Was that directed at me? No I only upgraded the graphics card. I got slot powered because I didn't want to upgrade anything unnecessarily. It was a 300 dollar computer after all.

Have everything already on Steam except Darksiders (have this for PS3) and Red Faction: Armageddon. So I bit for a dollar. Thanks OP!

It's a mix of Steamworks and non-Steamworks titles. I doubt it would be really hard to make DRM-free versions, at least of the non-Steamworks games, but I also suspect that neither THQ nor Humble want to be responsible for hosting the files indefinitely, especially just for sake of appealing to the anti-Steam crowd.

I can only speculate as to the watt rating on a $300 PC's power supply but if you upgraded the GPU much higher than the stock GPU the PC came with, it's in your best interest to upgrade the power supply, the GPU is one of the components that uses a lot of power especially for gaming.

I looked up the card. It's slot powered and uses very little power. I forget how much power the Dell PSU puts out but it's enough for the specs on the 6670. It makes zero sense for me to buy a computer for $300 then spend that same amount on a new GPU + PSU. I'm happy playing my games on medium since I'm not really a huge PC gamer. I mostly tend to play RTS's on PC and that on a very infrequent basis. Think maybe once every couple weeks.

I guess I should add, I've been using it for about a year now and the computer hasn't had power related issues. It's been very stable. Keep in mind that I have an i3 processor which is pretty efficient in terms of power consumption.

One bright side to all this is power usage: The 6670 has a TDP (Thermal Design Power) of 66 watts and uses only 12 watts when idle. This was confirmed by our electrical measurements with an Extech data logger, which showed that our test bed with a 6670 installed used only 115 watts when idle and 168 watts under load. This means you also don't need to plug in an extra cable from your PSU; the juice the 6670 draws from the PCI Express (PCIe) x16 port into which you plug it is sufficient. Unfortunately, the card still uses a fan–heat sink module big enough to block a second slot, so you'll need to be accommodating in that way.

Anyway, I'm waiting on something similar with low power consumption, slot powered, and way better than my 6670 before upgrading again. I suppose it will happen eventually. I know there's a new slot powered card out from about 6 months ago that's better than mine but I wasn't going to upgrade as soon as the next one came out.

edit again:
I found it, the current best slot powered graphics card is the Radeon 7750 for anyone looking at this thread and considering a graphics card upgrade but don't want to update their PSU. Keep in mind though, these are PCI Express cards in case your computer doesn't currently have a discreet card (check to make sure you mobo has the slot before buying the card).

In for one. First Humble Bundle that I have bought. Well worth it even though I already own some of the games. I love THQ and hope they can continue to make games.

I agree, sometimes you can get away with not upgrading the PSU but it's highly recommended because if your components are not getting enough power that they need your computer will encounter all kinds of weird problems and performance issues, or if the power supplies blows due to being overloaded it could also run the risk of taking out other components in the system along with it.

I did $15, gave my brother the Saints Row key since I already have it. Had a couple of the games but it's a good cause.

It sounds like he did the right thing (barring adding up and checking the amperage on the rails). And for him it works. =)

Just one side note to be aware of, (there was an Nvidia focused articles on this on AnandTech a couple months back) is that the backplane powered cards can give decent performance, but there is a large gap between them and full-up power hungry gaming card (e.g. Nvidia x60, x70, x80).

Anyone had issues running Red Faction: Armageddon? I picked it up about 6 months ago and for the life of me couldn't get that thing to run above 10fps on my Radion card (whereas titles like BF3 and Skyrim run easily at 40fps).

It's not a very optimized title, you have to tweak some settings and turn em down.

I played for maybe an hour or so today then it just crashed and Windows gave me the generic error message after saying performance dropped and asked if I wanted to change my settings and remove the Aero desktop or whatever.

I have 12 gigs of ram and a GTX670, I highly doubt performance dipped at all. Only game to crash out of the bundle.
