Took my 3 games to trade them in. Walked up to the counter. Pulled out the games. Realized I forgot to unwrap them The employee was a huge Dbag about it. Told me to go trade them to some other Gamestop, that he wouldn't be trading any games with me. I said a few unpleasent words back and left.

After that experience I remembered why I stopped shopping at Gamestop.

It's their store policy to not take in new game. Same thing happened to me, I had to take it to the one across the mall

I had the same experience, had Just Cause 2 unopened, guy was kind of a dick about it or else I wouldn't have cared. Well, I didn't really care, but the wife had a few words for him lol.

Is the Sly Collection out of print or something? I still have a sealed copy I got at target on clearance that I will never get to. I just dont want to trade it in if it will be really hard to find someday.

I thought they just tell you to unwrap them yourself before you trade them.

It's a perfectly sensible policy and one they've had for years. Unwrap the game BEFORE you go - simple.

I was aware that they don't accept unopened games, I just forgot to open them before taking them. I was going to leave and take them to a different store, it wasn't a big deal for me. But then he started being unnecessarily rude.

Well duh, if I would have known they wouldn't take it I wouldn't have tried. I've done it at Best Buy before a bunch of times, never had any trouble, so I didn't think it would be a problem.

Whether customers knew about bringing the games unwrapped or not, the employee have no right to be disrespectful to the customer. They only need to explain their policy and that is it. It wasn't necessary for the employee to state he will not accept any trades from him. I would have taken the issue with the manager or the local corporate office if it was the manager.

I just came back from gamestop to do a few trade ins and over heard the cashier telling a customer that they didnt have Lego Batman 2 cause its really hard to find. So I decided to check to see if they had Alice Madness returns since I heard that was discontinued and they didnt(atleast on the shelves)

With this crazy promo, id assume they have a shit load of copies for these games...im really curious as to what they are up to ha.

edit: checked online for Alice and the stores near me say low stock on all...and the store I traded mine into the other day isnt even listed(maybe got bought quickly)

Traded in my Sly, Just Dance 2 and Kirby (which I feel kind of bad about, good game) and it rang up $33. Handed the guy my key chain Pro card and he was all "wo" when it came up $78.30. So yes I only got 10% on the $33 - not the full $75 - for an extra $3.30 but I would have let them keep that for the extra $42. And the Pro Game Informer mag came in the mail today so that was nice.

Good "Pro" story. I went to trade in Mario Kart 7 (3DS) for $15 and my membership had expired a few months earlier - so the guy rang it up as a "used' return for $30 - "lost receipt" - so I basically got the "Pro" for free - $30 return - $15 membership fee = $15 I was going to get for the trade in anyway. Pro is a good deal for free.

It actually makes no sense whatsoever. I know the reason is that they do not want to take stolen games. But a thief could just as easily unwrap them as anyone else. So, really, if you think about it, it makes no sense - it just ends up being a thing to hassle legitimate customers about.

Yeah, I see this sort of thing all the time. And sure, it is a pain if they mislead people about it but in most of the cases I've seen they really are trying to help.

None of the GS locations near me stock Amazon gift cards, so until the introduction of the Steam gift cards, there was no good way to get my money out of the GS ecosystem. I find that GS doesn't often have good deals on new games, so i was getting bargains from other places, then trading in at GS, but not having anything I wanted to buy there.

I prefer Amazon - even thought their TIVs are often lower, I like being able to spend that money on things other than games.
I prefer Amazon credit, too, all things being equal. The problem is, usually it isn't equal (like with this promo). And I've always had plenty of use for GS credit. If nothing else, you can buy MS Points or PSN cards there. But I tend to use them for hardware that isn't often discounted much other places. It was by far the best place for me to pick up the Wii U, and the 3DS before that. And they actually have more game sales than people think. For example, starting tomorrow, they are going to have LBP Vita for $19.99. I haven't seen that on sale anywhere yet.
