got a 16 gb during the promotion, backed up my 4 gb and then removed the card and replaced it with the new card and performed a restore, now the card says 14gb of 14 gb, the backup was only 448 mb, where did the other 1.5 gb go? I know then system takes some for its use, but it was very little on the 4 gb card, I can't believe that 1.5 gb was taken in the new card, any ideas what's going on here? thanks

The other 1.5 GB is basically to build the indexes and structures for the storage mechanism. All storage devices have to pay this tax, from computer hard drives to anything else. To wit, a 32 GB Vita memory card only has 29 usable Gigabytes.

On average, 10% of a device's advertised storage is not usable to store things.

Someone correct me if I am wrong with the numbers.

It's advertiser's deception or something. I though the number difference was based on how computers count numbers, like on base 8. Normally things are counted by zeros, but not data. 1 thousand bytes is not 1 kilobytes btw.
