How ridiculous! They expect me to return the item and purchase at full price. Apparently they have never heard of customer service. Last time I had a problem with an Amazon order and they couldn't process the return they told me to reorder and they went in and manually applied a credit to reduce the price to what I had paid initially.

That is ridiculous. You didn't get what you ordered. It is their error. Threaten to file a law suit. Sometimes that gets people.

I just ordered mine the other day so no telling when it will get here. But I hope I don't get it for the 360 instead of the PS3. If I do and someone still has the PS3 instead of 360 i'd be willing to trade. We'd both just have to pay shipping costs >_>

If you used a credit card to purchase you might want to dispute the payment with them, that's a good way to get Square's attention on the matter.

You don't need to threaten a lawsuit, but you should call them back and explain that they didn't provide you with the item you paid for and that if they don't provide that item, you will notify your credit card company and do a chargeback. You are under no obligation to accept the wrong item, nor are you obligated to pay return shipping for their mistake.

i had the same exact problem, ordered 360 got ps3, i sent them an email and received this response on 1/5/13

We have submitted a follow-up regarding your order. Please allow our
escalation team to contact you within 48-72 hours.

I submitted my complaint by email on Saturday. I would prefer to work with their customer service but will initiate a charge back if necessary. They didn't charge my credit card until 12/31 so I have a little time. Thanks for the info nightmarishhero. My next step when I get home will be to request a referral to the escalation team & a ticket number.

OK. Most recent email was a little more reasonable. They asked for proof of the promotional price I paid. I think they ought to have that information available to them but I am willing to email them a copy of my confirmation email and a scan of my packing slip/invoice if it will result in getting the promised item.

they sound lazy... they should look up your invoice using the order# in their database instead of making you send "proof". i guess they're hoping you deleted/lost it

Ordered FF Anthology towards the end of December and it was on backorder. Wonder if I'll ever get it, I honestly thought it would be canceled by now.

If anyone didn't already know, Digital River's customer service isn't very helpful. I called yesterday to see if I could make an exchange for the original version. They tech level I woman didn't want to entertain the idea of an exchange and the only thing she could do was offer a refund. I asked if I could speak with a manager, she put me on hold and I was kicked off the line after waiting roughly 3 minutes. I didn't have enough time to call back that day.

So, I tried again today. The tech I spoke with today said about the same thing except he told me to order the same item again after I'm issued a refund (nice wtf logic there). I explained that didn't make sense because I in fact ordered that item and it was on sale so I would be paying $10 more with the possibility that I might end up with the same version. I plead that all I wanted to do was make an exchange for the original version that currently is and was advertised on the site during the sale. He said he would email a request to the higher department to see if they would approve. I got a ticket number and a guarantee that they will respond within the next 24-72 hours. So, my original thought about this being a huge waste of time isn't too far off.

Why wouldn't you call Square Enix customer support instead of Digital River? You placed the order with SE so you are their customer, call them and let them fight it out with DR.
