Wasn't the case for me.
I pre-ordered KOA from Amazon DVG, figuring that version would use or require Origin.
Don't regret it one bit - given the 72 hours or so I spent w/ the base game.

Still haven't gotten my Scavenger Hunt Access Code for pre-ordering Tomb Raider.. Contacted CS, but they say its Square's fault. Any idea when we'll be getting the codes Tony? I think the scavenger hunt ends on release date.

I think Amazon should give us the 5 DLC codes instead as they ware the purpose of the Scavenger Hunt in the first place, and no body will be able to get them after March 5th

On the other hand, you can take a screenshot of your pre-order and email it to trcodes@trscavenger.com as shown here :

I did that and got my code within an hour. Completed all the 12 "trivia" challenges out of 24 and I can't access the other "photo" challenges because they require a profile picture and that needs manual review and approval

How much effort is involved in trying to unlock the in-game items through that scavenger hunt? It sounds like a pain in the ass.

Took me like 15 minutes to answer the 12 trivia questions. Some questions are really funny cuz they were about things in the game which is not released yet lol. Some googling will do it.

Actually the key was for a friend and I already have Survival Edition on Steam. I can do that and get another code for my friend but he said he doesn't want it and I won't be needing another code which will become useless within 2 days lol.

Steam had that Scavenger Hunt promo in the beginning but they changed it and we can now see why... too much hassle

Some retailers are just giving the DLCs as pre-order bonuses and I think Amazon should've done the same.... or just ask Square Enix for them and give them to us

Huh. My Sim City preorder was "inadvertently cancelled" by Amazon, but now the CAGROCKS code isn't valid. Now that sucks.

Edit: Amazon support sorted me out. Things are well again. I'm pleasantly surprised

i guess CAGROCKS can't be used on SimCity pre order ... part of the reason why all order was cancel is because of the CAGROCKS code?

i placed mine on early jan ~ re-order SimCity again anyway .... !

Man, first preloading gets canceled and then they cancel all the orders for Simcity. Thankfully, Amazon support resolved this easily enough and added the extra 5 dollars off in addition to the promocode.

Yeah, my sim city got canceled too. Tried going through chat support and the guy told me I'd have to call in.

I'll do it tomorrow, would rather not be on the phone at midnight.

Question - will Bioshock or Coh2 have any sort of region locking business (ie any problems from using copies bought from Amazon or non direct Steam versions)?.

For 100% transparency here is the mistake that led to this issue. Note this was absolutely a mistake, and orders that were did not use CAGROCKS were cancelled as well.
On Thursday we learned that there would no longer be a pre-load for SimCity. In response I set up a mass mail to go out to every customer who had pre-ordered the game up until we found out there wasn't a pre-load anymore.
When I filed this request, I copy/pasted a previous request for a mass mail, in this previous request the words "also please cancel all of the attached orders" (we had an issue with a product previously that we had to cancel/refund orders on because the product never shipped).
So, when sending the email out, letting customers know there was no pre-load, we also cancelled all the orders.
Again, this was totally my bad.
