Question: Printing Ebay Shipping Labels

You know once you pay for the shipping label you get to print it out.. But my question is, if instead of hitting the print button, can i just copy the label and paste it on Microsoft Words?

that way i can put at least print out two-three shipping labels on one sheet of paper.

will that work?

Better way for you. The default layout is label then cut here line then empty paper. Print a label then flip it and print your next label on the back of that one. It will save you time versus copying into word and does the same end game of saving paper.

You can do that but that will re-size the labels and screw up the resolution. They will still work but now you're dependent on a USPS employee manually putting in the numbers in case the label doesn't scan.

Most printers let you print on a half sheets of paper. What I do is, print a label, cut the paper down the middle and then I can stick that unused half in my printer and it'll print just fine.

What's your end game?

You don't want to waste paper? Ink?

I personally like one label per sheet because it's important to me that I keep the receipt label for proof of shipment. A lot of times during chargebacks (especially Unauthorized Use) you need to prove to PayPal that you shipped the label to the address on the paypal invoice. The quickest way to do that, and get your funds released, is to upload a scan of that label receipt as it shows both the shipping address and the tracking number.

This becomes even more important for international transactions.

If you are worried about the cost of paper wait until staples has free or penny reams after rebate or rewards.

If you are worried about the cost of ink buy a cheap and reliable toner printer. I got the Brother 2170W (Wireless) printer for $50 after a rebate and the toner can be bought on sites like Mwave for about $11 each... and you get 2-3,000 prints before they need to be replaced.

What does that paper prove though? Just because you have it doesn't mean you shipped the item, it just means you printed the label. If the seller wants to see the transaction, you can just forward them the shipping label email.

PayPal has never asked me for anything more than the tracking number. As long as that shows it's been delivered, they've sided with me.

i just don't want to waste paper. It's not the cost of the paper it's just i hate seeing all that paper going to the trash when it could perfectly be used.

If you're printing another label on the reverse side of the paper, does that mean the first receipt is on the back of that label?

How did you type my exact reply, word for word, before I did?

OP: "wasting" half a sheet of paper has a simple solution: wipe your arse with it. Or, you know, put it in the recycle bin or burn it for heat (or fun).

Reducing your footprint by at most a case (10 reams/5,000 sheets) of paper over your life of shipping isn't worth the hassle of messing around with properly-formatted USPS labels.

If you really need to, though, just simply print as a .PDF (various free software available for that) rather than messing with MSWord.

It proves that you shipped the item to the address on the invoice.

The receipt has both the tracking number and the shipping address. This has helped during every single Unauthorized Chargeback dispute I have faced.

If you just give them the tracking number how are they supposed to know where the item was shipped (you have to show proof of shipment to the PayPal address to win an unauthorized use dispute).

And I would never ever let my case rest on an "e-mail" as proof of anything. I have used e-mail correspondence as proof in various eBay/PayPal cases and flatout been told that due to policy they aren't supposed to accept e-mails as documentation for disputes.

The addresses are kept in your PP transaction history as well, and the USPS has it (though it's a PITA to get them to retrieve it). It's pretty easy to forge printed documents, but PayPal would probably believe their own records, regardless of what the buyer thinks.

I'm not knocking you for keeping it, I'm just saying it seems redundant. Obviously, it's better to have more support to back your case...
