well i have a gc with 34 games (some new releases) three controllers, thre momory cards. How much do you think i could get at eb or microplay(canadian). I really dont want to pay shipping so ebay is out of the question.

shoudl i bother getting a ps2 now? Isn't ps3 coming out next fall? I have a gamecube, and i was gonig to trade that for a ps2. Would it be worth it?

Why do people ask this kind of stuff?

You are the ONLY one who knows what you like and dislike. NO ONE can tell you what will be better for you.

When will you learn that people who like GC will tell you to keep your GC and people who like PS2 will tell you to get a PS2 and people who like both will tell you to get both?

I believe if you were to sell all of your GC stuff, then you would probably take a loss on your investment. Personally, the CheapAss I am, I would never want to take a loss on my investments; But looking at the number of games that you own(34, WOW! ) , It would probably only make sense to get a PS2 since they have more titles to "try out", maybe not own necessarrily.
So I would say if you were to get a good amount back for your GC (and games!), then go for it in getting a PS2. About PS3, All I can predict with that is you will probably be shelling out $300 if not more when Fall of 2005 swings around. PS2 will probably still have support for games for 2 or 3 years after 2005, but you just won't get the best possible graphics and some outstanding looking first Titles will be exclusive to PS3...but PS2 should keep you excited with many titles.

Well thats my 2cents or many cents....If you are bright with your money, then you probably already thought about all of this. I own a GC too, and I actually think PS2 and Xbox are probably both fine upgrades, but of course PS2 is the best for number of Titles. Ive always thought of upgrading too, but since I don't have a whole lot of time (and money) to play many games anyways, then Im willing to stick with the same ole. If highest quality in resolution and sound is what you want then go with Xbox...But you seem more like a PS2 person because the more variety in games is what you Crave!

i say keep the gamecube. you obviously like it, or you wouldnt have that many games, and the ps2 is soon to be dropping in price. i say keep the gcn, and maybe pick up a ps2 at a later date.

You'd save a lot of money if you just traded your gcn and some games with a guy for his ps2 on TGN or something. Just an idea

is there anything compelling you to buy a ps2? or, more importantly, are there games coming out for the cube that you're going to absolutely need/want to play?

a friend of mine bought an xbox at its release, then decided that he hated in a few months and sold it and the 5-6 games he bought. a year later, panzer dragoon orta comes out, and he buys another new xbox just to play it.

Yup. Never trade anything in man. Think about 5 years down the line, when you get a hankering for some GCN. Just because you're bored of it now doesn't mean you will be forever.

I saw hold onto it too. I have all three sytems. The last one I purchased was the gamecube, and I have the least amount of games for it. But if someone said to me, "choose one system or die" I think I would keep the cube of all three.

ps3 isn't coming out till 2006

when you see ps2 hit $99 bucks, then you start wondering if it's coming.
you have to much invested for trading your games in at any store. I always feel the pain for the guy trading in has game at EB or gamestop and getting $5 or even $3 so I always offer him a dollar over what the store offered.
So at that rate you figure you have 30 some odd games $4 each plus gamecube that would give you just enough to get a new ps2.

dont do it. your game will be more value to you in the closet 8 years from now

My advice is dont get a PS2...It doesnt have that great of a selection and its a rip off if you want to play online...get an xbox...but if you really want a ps2 i suggest you sell the games you dont like very much or dont play often and you should have a good bit towards whatever console you choose

Here's the system breakdown for me. Here's why you really need all 3 systems:

PS2- CAGer heaven! In terms of $5/$10 games, this is usually the system that they're on. I have the most games for PS2 by far, and although most of them are pretty good, they're not must-own games. I don't regret buying any of them by any means, but it's something to keep in mind.

Xbox- 3rd Party system. In terms of 1st party games, the Xbox isn't too solid. However, when ever a games sees a trisystem launch, the Xbox is USUALLY the best version by far.

GCN- first party system. The GCN doesn't have a big selection of games, but most of the first party games are must-own.

I own all 3, and I couldn't imagine giving any one of them up!

^^ That was very well done. I agree. And I also would like to say never, ever trade anything unless its absolutley nescessary. You'll regret it.

I'm not much of a Nintendo guy, but you would probably regret trading in your GC... ESPECIALLY if you trade it into EB. If anything, you should trade on here having buyer pay shipping.

Its really your decision if you want to trade it or not, but as for me I get really nostalgic for my games and it pains me to let them go. You'll be going through 34 times the amount of suffering in the time it takes to build up a good PS2 library. =/

Don't trade in at a store

The important thing to remember, no matter what you do is:

DO NOT trade your gamecube and games in at a store. You will take a huge loss compared to selling it on ebay. Even if you sell everything in one auction in a big lot, you'll do much better than trading your stuff in at a store.

well looking into the future would be your best bet on which system to invest in. here are some of the "big Games" coming out later on this year for both systems.

GC: Mario 128, metroid prime 2, loz:WW, geist, animal crossing 2, pikmin 2, resident evil 4, killer 7, wario ware, zelda: four swords.

vs.

PS2:MGS: snake eater, FFXI, RE: outbreak, GTA:san andreas,

those are just some off the top of my head. i personally would go with gamecube because im not a final fantasie fan and it has more killer apps coming out soon.

sell about half those games and put them into the ps2 fund. don't sell the system it self
