Haven't seen a post on this yet and didn't see it in the Steam thread, apologies if repost.

Hi-Rez have released a Game of the Year edition of Tribes Ascend. For a one time purchase you unlock every class, every weapon, and every perk. The MSRP after 2/25 is going to be $40, which in and of itself is a phenomenal value, and until then you can snag it for $30. This is pretty much ideal for anyone who was turned off by the game's free-to-play model and wished they could just purchase all the content up front.

This is by far the best multiplayer shooter I've played in years. It's unique, fast paced, requires actual skill to be able to even hit your target, and is ridiculous amounts of fun.

It's been in a slow death spiral for the past year. People have been dropping it right and left, same way Hi-Rez is dropping support for this to focus on Smite, which doesn't even look half as good as Tribes used to.

Just play for a few hours for free. No need to pay $30 for all the weapons. In the long run, yes a lot of weapons you need are locked behind paywalls and grinding but you can still enjoy the game without paying and then drop it once the thrill of sliding fast wears off.

Right, hovering a reticle over a target and firing a hit scan weapon is soooo challenging.

Regardless, the game's still fun. There's still enough people playing that getting into a match doesn't take long. It's more than worth playing still, and for anyone who enjoys it enough to want to spend money on it this is good deal.
