Purchasing From Amazon /w an incorrect Billing Address
Just a quick question as to the legality of a certain scenario. If I were to purchase an item on Amazon from within a state that has a sales tax, but it is billed to a state where Amazon doesn't collect sales tax, would that be illegal? For example, I believe that Amazon collects sales tax from the state of NY, but doesn't from NJ. If I were to purchase items and have them shipped to NY, but billed to NJ, is there an issue? Thanks in advance. |

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Amazon charges sales tax based on where the item was being SHIPPED to.
I live in Maine (no amazon tax) and drop shipped an item to a family member in Texas and I was charged taxes on it despite my CC information being in a no amazon tax state |
