Panzer Dragoon Orta is a sequel from the Panzer Dragoon series. The games only came out for Sega Saturn, so almost no one played them. This game is a 3D shooter (think Star Fox 64) that has you rotate 360 degrees in order to shoot enemies. So if a bad guy is on your right you press the R button to get him in your range. The radar shows where they are so you know where to shoot.

The story itself is about a girl named Orta that has been in prison her whole life and doesn’t know why. One night a dragon comes and saves her. The game also takes place in a world with a lot of flying things (ships, plants, bugs, machines, etc). The main game will take only a couple long sittings to beat but it features many side quests you unlock and the entire first game from the series. Sadly, the first game looks really dated and the side quests kind of suck because what you’re controlling is like a bicycle compared to the sports car that is the dragon. Also you can only regain a small amount of health from berserk shots which take awhile to get because the bar slowly fills after each enemy you fry. Add that with the fact that if you die you have to start over at the beginning of the level unless you’re fighting the final boss of the level. Though it is challenging, you will have a blast with this game.

It's a shooter? I thought it was an RPG! Wow.. I haven't played it just because I thought it was an RPG and I wasn't ready to start one. I'm going to pop this in in just a second! Thanks, Thor! Good review! (I'm serious, I really didn't know it was a shooter)

Yeah 3 are shooters and 1 is an RPG (Panzer Dragoon Saga for Sega Saturn).

I paid full price for the game, it is flat out amazing

I think the Sega Saturn Panzer's sold relatively well. Your review does not mention this is a shooter on "rails."
While not an inherently a bad system, in this age of free-roaming, open game-space, one's movements being spatially confined can initially strike as frustrating.

Game is awsome...

Sega gotta bring back the Saga series... 1 of the best RPG of all time!

Your review is really, really short. How about a little more detail in your description of the graphics, audio, controls, replay, extras/unlockables, game play, fun, etc.? If I were seriously considering purchasing this game and didn't already know about it, I don't feel that this review would give me enough information to make an informed purchasing decision. Besides, you should be happy to write more since you're talking about a game, something that should be fun to do.

Once you get familiar with the different dragon types and boosting forward and backward, combining and switching and being all strategic is really awesome.

Plus the art and the music is mindblowing.

This is one of the very few games i paid full price for and honestly have never had any regrets. If I can get my son into a rehabilitation program for his Xbox Live / Halo 2 addiction I may get to play it again sometime soon

Meh, I tried so hard to get into it, but just thought it was so-so. I want Shenmue III!

I dont think the part about no one playing the originals needs to be in there and you should eloborate a bit more on actual gameplay instead of story(its a shooter). Too bad no CC near me because i have yet to find this game really cheap

Back at it times.. it was pretty much one of the best games out.

Well, I never like it when people use poor graphics as a negative. But it's really short, gives few details, and just poorly written. I know almost nothing about the game, except that you don't like a few things about it but like it overall. A good review should describe the control, extras, overall fun etc. in a game. This way, even if you don't like part of it, it may be something I like or don't mind. All I know about the game is the berserk shots recharge slowly, it's a rail shooter (keep this part, I assumed they had changed it to keep up to the times, I love rail shooters) the dragon is like a bicycle (I didn't fully understand this part), and when you die you have to start the level over. If I want to buy a game, I'd like more than that.

PDS was more of a side game, orta is a true sequal to the bulk of the series.

Pretty good game. But like Chris in Cali said "I want Shenmue III!".
