As I understand it, Uru was an online deviation that expanded on the story.

The online concept failed and now they are going back to basics.

Myst IV

Uru was never meant to be Myst IV. It is an entirely different facet to the story. The "you" that is the player in Myst, Riven, Exile, and eventually Revelations, is not the same as the "you" in Uru. The core series and Uru are also set apart by a number of years. And, of course, Uru is the only one to take place on Earth (except for the end of Myst 1, in D'ni). I love the series...

Wow, any of you Myst fans read the novels by the creators? I read all 3, and after reading them, THEN I go into playing the games ^^ It really adds a whole new dimension to Myst! GOGOGO, The Book of Ti'Ana first, Book of Atrus, Book of D'Ni!!

To beat Riven I had to cheat. Riven is definitely the hardest of the Myst games so far. I would rather have it hard, though.

I didn't even know they had novels let alone read them. I would like to get an extensive background on how it all got started.

Omg, def. get your hands on them ASAP. The history of the D'ni and Atrus is incredible! They might start off slow, but once you get beyond the beginning, as in every Myst game, they become a lot more intriuging. GL w/ getting them though, they've been out of print for ages! I have seen some copies @ my local libarary, so you might have a chance there!! I really hope you enjoy them as much as I did! ^_^

I bought the second and third books in the series, both hardcover, and loved them to death. The only problem with that was that I had never read the first book. I looked all over bookstores, ebay, half.com, you name it, and none had the hardcover book in stock. After about a year of searching (and I mean searching) I found one at a half-price bookstore for about 5 dollars. I bought it on spot only to take it home and find out that it was SIGNED by both authors! You can't beat that in the least bit, great condition too! Those books are my favorite series that I have ever read.

Here are two pictures of the sig's and book. If anyone can tell me how to just post the pictures on this thread please tell me, save you all the hassle of clicking:

WOW, that's totally sweet!!! ^^ The books are sooo great, but to tell you the truth, I place Dragonlance a little bit higher, in terms of pure epicness -.-''' But yeah, THIS IS THE BEST NOVEL SERIES EVAR SPAWN FROM A GAME!! Period.

btw, rywateska which book did you like best? Mine was Ti'Ana, then Atrus. I didn't care much for D'Ni for some reason. I mean, it was good, but since it didn't focus much on Atrus (well...not as much as I like), it just wasn't to my tastes T.t

I haven't read them in the past two years, if I can remember I think I liked Ti'Ana, D'ni, and then Atrus, but I'm not sure. I'm definatly going to have to dust these off once the work lets up, or the games let down, either way. I have to look into that Dragonlace you were talking about.

Same here. D'Ni just didn't have the same level of "magic" that was present in the others, and it didn't add anything to the games. Ti'Ana was amazing because it allowed us to see D'Ni in its prime, and its destruction. Atrus let us delve deeper into his mind and that of his father and gave us a better idea of their relationship, but D'Ni didn't really add much to the series.
