IS anyone really enjoying this one? I love Mario 64 on my N64, but this game just controls for shite on the DS. Yes, the mini-games are pseudo-unique and worth a play..but yuck, the controls of this game stink. Am I the only one to think so?

While the controls aren't as good as the controls were on the N64 version I got used to them after a few hours.

I had no trouble adjusting to the D-pad after the first hour or two. The only thing that bothered me after extensive play was the inability to change direction of a jump in mid-jump. That led to quite a few deaths...

I barely play Mario 64 DS for the actual game. I'm all about those mini-games.

Ditto...the original was actually fun just to run around...this feels like a chore. So far the system works well for regular stylus work, and FPS (metroid with the thumbstrap is FUN)

Somehow, I knew DDF would make a negative comment of some sort but not contribute to the discussion in any meaningful way.

I played Mario 64 in the mall, it was a bit weird because yoshi walked slow so I double tapped alot and he ran, Ithink the game works beter if you dont use the stylus.

Him saying the game sucks is no less meaningful than Adam (for example) saying he liked the mini games. They're called opinions.

I just didn't enjoy playing Mario 64 at all this time around. Yes, it was fun on the N64 - all the more reason to simply track down an old system and the cart - they can probably be had for $20-25. Control is awful - they should have just released the minigames separately - I could play Luigi's card games for hours. If anyone's having trouble picking out a game for DS - get WarioWare Touched instead.

i dont think mario 64 ds is that bad, but i do reccomend warioware touched over mario. i didnt ever play mario 64 on the n64, so i wasnt already use to the those controls. but a lot of the mini games in touched are put into mario64 under the rec room.

After playing Mario 64 DS for a few more hours, I still hate it. (I hated Wind Waker for the first few hours, but it has grown on me over the years.) Anyhow, being that I am a Nintendo fan...I don't want to sell/trade it...but I think that I may cause I just hate the controls.

DDF's opinions means less, its just meant to cause flames

Why does it mean less? One person likes it, one person doesn't. There is absolutely no difference, only your own personal bias.

I didn't like Mario 64 DS, But it wasn't cause of the controls. I was able to pick them up pretty fast. I just didn't see Mario 64 DS being a good game to introduce people to the DS. While the controls were not hard to use you could tell the game was not designed for the DS like Metroid Prime Hunters and WareWare are. Plus its just a port of an old N64 game and I'm getting sick of replaying all these Mario games. I want something new. I was happy that it wasn't just a direct port and they did take the time to give it better graphics and a few new features but it was still the same old game.

Word. I also agree with the person that said the game felt like a chore. I remember when I had my N64 and Mario 64, I wanted to get all the power stars. This time around I fell like I'm just getting them because I bought the game, and I have to. I would have been happier if Mario 64 DS was just like 100 mini-games, and not the actual platform part.

It means less because his opinion is the same for every single game he posts about. It's sort of like asking a GC fanboy about his opinion on any other game system is, you already know the outcome.
