I'm in the grips of a Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance addiction currently. I play for about 2 hours every day, and 4 on the weekends and this has been going on for about a week. What's the most time you've spent while addicted to a game?

Hmm, by your standards, almost every game I've had was an addiction. In my terms, Ninja Gaiden was beaten in 3 days, and it took me 25 hours. Windwaker is another type of addicion, however. I've had it for about a month, maybe more, and generally play it an hour or so every day, but some days I play much, much more.

Knights of the Old Republic. I played it through back to back to back in a three week period. Man, I love that game.

Reading the topic title, I can't help but think of Bob Saget's rant about addiction in Half Baked.

When Metroid Prime came out, my girlfriend at the time gave it to me as some shitty anniversary present right before christmas. I stayed up and played for something like 14 hours on Christmas Eve and was barely conscious for the holiday. My family stayed pissed at me about that one for a couple of months.

Most time spent playing a game I was addicted to was like 50 hours in five days on the NES game Deadly Towers. (This was many years ago)

Most time spent addicted to a game overall is like 17 years. (Deadly Towers). I still cringe at the mention or sight of that game.

Four years ago I relapsed and pulled this game out and played it for like 15 hours straight. After realizing that this game was beginning to consume me once again I packed up my NES and stuck it in the attic

Oh no! Now you've gone and done Lefty. I'm beginning to tremble! I'm getting hot flashes! RELAPSE!!!!! Where did I pack that box? Where did I pack that box? Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!

Has anyone ever beaten that game?

Not an X Box game, but I dropped around 5-7,000 hours in Ultima Online back in the day.

There's no shame in it; JSRF is a great game. I paid $40 for it when it first came out and I have no regrets.

Metal Arms

Metal Arms has been my current mini-addiction . . . If you like to blow stuff up . . .

Definitely and overlooked gem!

I was pretty heavily addicted to Morrowind... On the weekend, the sun would rise, and the sun would set outside my living room window in summer, and I continued on killing dark elves and caves and trying to figure out ways of levitating my bloated corpus too heavy with ill-gotten booty (too heavy to walk) back to my hide out... during the weekdays I'd allow myself about 30 minutes after I got home for work for food before turning the xbox on... and promising I'd shut it off before 1:30am. Five pounds and six months later it finally released me. Haven't picked it up since, though I'm likely 90% done with the thing...

Halo multiplayer, senior year of high school my friends and I logged at least 200hrs in a year playing with the system link and 4 xboxes. now we must be up to at least 400+ total hrs. Its sounds untrue but 5pm - 2 am nights weren't uncommon

Damn, I was hoping no one would post a record that stood up to mine, oh well. In the Summer, man, all I did was play Wolfenstein for Xbox. In the few months that Summer last, I think I spent atleat 900 hours, but probably more like 1,000 hours on that game. I'd play atleast 12 hours almost everyday. I actually didn't eat for two days one time when I found my true skill on that game, sniping. I also made up a routine from that game called "The Wolfenstein". You stay up to atleast 5 in the morning playing vid games, then you wake up in the afternoon and repeat that for atleast a week. I have failed to achieve that again, if Enemy Territory comes out for Xbox right before Summer, maybe I'll have that chance to perform that routine again.
