Nintendo DS

I purchased the DS on launch day, which IMO was a bad decision on my part. What can I say I'm a 16 year old impatient guy who works and likes to spend money. Now I cant see games being developed for the DS one year from now. I believe the DS is already a failure and will end its short lived career in the next coming year. I honestly do not believe Nintendo thinks the DS is worthy and have a long shelf life. To date there is not one game that is a system seller and there looks to be only 1 game that I'm interested in, but when Nintendo makes a system they need a wider genre of games and well made ones also. Also so far only 2 games on the DS are ok and that's Mario and Wario this is in my opinion. The games on the ds offer almost zero replay value and become boring only a day after you purchase them. The DS is looking to be another failure by Nintendo going the same way as the Virtual Boy and the E-Reader. Shame on you Nintendo for screwing me out of my money and shame on me for purchasing this product. I'm not going to sell my DS any time soon because what you can get for it isn't worth it. I will be getting a PSP on launch day and Im still debating what to do, I have the system and 2 games paid off, Im 16 and a freakin workaholic so i can afford such an expensive hobby. I May just cancel my PSP preorder and wait to see if it will be successful, but who nose when i make my decision on March 24th. I know a lot of guys will be nasty when responding but that's cool with me but some may agree with me, im just curious.

Have you looked at the release dates for DS games?

The DS has had one of the GREATEST LAUNCHES EVER, they're on pace to sell 6 million systems worldwide by april 1st.

3rd party companies will HAVE to make games for it with an installed base that large.

i agree the DS library is horrific right now, and i think they rushed putting it out, just so it would beat psp to the market, instead of waiting to have more then like 5 games available at launch. i think it will have like 5 or 6 high quaility games by years end, but i think its appeal will fade fast if they put out the next GB this year

i think what he is trying to say is that it doesnt have any games right now, and there are a lot of those 6 million people that are dissapointed with their purchase

The N64 had a slow as hell launch. Beyond Mario 64 and maybe Pilot Wings nothing was worth owning. Give it time. Plus, I'm sure Nintendo is withhold it's arsenal till the PSP gets released in the US. I'm sure E3 will be the flood gates for DS software. Just take it slow, I understand how your feeling but relax. DS is an awesome system and the awesome games will come soon.

I don't know why you would be disappointed really. Lots of lauches are historically slow. The N64 had only Mario 64 and Pilotwings for the longest time there. And even the PS2 didn't come right out of the gate great. It took it probably a year to a year and a half to really see the good games come. It takes time for these things and you can bet that there will be some games out for it and soon, especially with E3 coming. Nintendo will probably let the flood gates out then. It almost has a 6 million user base. That's HUGE! Even more so if you think about the short timespan it has been out. Third party developers are going to have to acknowledge that. And there are many games coming out down the pipeline that look good. Plus Metroid Prime.

Yeah, it was great in many respects. It gave us the best game of all time, OoT, I know this is arguable but most poeple would agree. Some many amazing games were made for the N64 that I would absolutely say it was a great system.

No offense taken as I just read your post. I was writing that entire thing while watching t.v. and watching a couple other threads. I see the similiarities and it was just a coincidence.

I agree with all you said. The N64 didn't have a flood or barrage of games come out for it but it still had plenty of good games. I still play it for Goldeneye and Star Fox alone.

Does anyone know by any chance how many N64s were sold?

I though the N64 was pretty much looked on as a failure. I know it is by me, and the huge amount of people the found much better quality in the Playstation 1.

Out of all my classic systems, the N64 is the only one that I never go back to hook-up, and play games on. With the exception of Zelda, Mario, and maybe Pokemon Snap, the system was garbage. Everything else has been done on other systems, and much better.

Sales wise, I don't know if you can qualify the N64 as a failure. According to this guy http://forums.gaming-age.com/showthread.php?t=33628 the N64 sold comparably well. Not sure how accurate his numbers are, but if they are true Nintendo had a little less than a 1/3 rd of the market.

thats what im sayin, good games are on the way. and imho the psp launch line up is nothing to brag about, sure there more games but most of them dont interest me. i really doubt nintendo will drop the ds, they have a huge base and it was one of the most sucsessful system launches ever. and people shouldnt be worried about a new gba, because itll just be a gba, not a new system. besides, itll be worth it when zelda ds comes out, youll see.
