DS crashing GBA games?

Hey guys, I've had my DS since launch, and haven't noticed anything wierd, and it isn't giving me problems...

Except this, but it's minor. When playing Breat of Fire 1 for GBA, when I get Bo, and go to that forest that you must get to buy cutting down the tree (A good place to build up exp, toughest enemies around), the game tends to crash kinda rarely, right after I win and the screen fades out to go back to the forest...

This didn't happen on the GBA.

Has anyone else had this happen? It's not a big deal, but does the DS make the chances of a GBA crash bigger?

I think it might just be a glitch with your Breath of Fire cart. Nothing like this has happened while I was playing GBA games on my DS.

Try a few different games and see if it's a recurring issue. If not, I wouldn't worry too much about it (but I would try to find a new Breath of Fire cart).

First time I have heard of this issue OP. I've heard of dead pixels and the touch screen not working properly, etc. but never this before. Like Maverick CRV said, it could be your Breath of Fire cart.

I played that part of BOF on the DS and it works fine. Probably just your cart.

I'd be inclined to say it would happen on a GBA as well. From a software perspective the environment is 99.8% identical to a GBA. There is one place you can test a BIOS function to see if you're running on a DS. This opens up the potential for GBA games to have DS bonuses. It is incredibly unlikely any existing GBA game that wasn't doing something like that would ever come across that in a way that could cause a crash.

Did you buy your GBA cart online from Ebay? Are you sure that you don't have a pirated version?

I bought Breath Of Fire (And Golden Sun, I got part 2 a year ago), about 2-3 years ago at Amazon.com. If it's pirated, then something is truly wrong...

Heh, seriously, I know they put a GBA chip in, but I'm thinking it could be like XP having DOS compatibility... Not as bad, since it isn't even dos, but it's really a brand new system, so their could be some.. conflicts that may throw off some games.

For instance, one of the final fantasy games doesn't work on PS2.

Holy crap. This just happened to me, 3 times.

While playing Metal Slug advance, after the first "GO->" screen, and you get to the mountain. At around the same place evertime, for 3 times, my DS froze.

This isn't good.

EDIT: Anybody with a DS and Metal Slug advance, do me a favor and try this (since it's at such an early part of the game).
