I give it 3 weeks until we see the first one. People around here expect to see too many titles come out around the launch of a system, that it is bound to happen.

So how long do you guys thing it will be?

and so no one thinks I am biased. I plan on buying both the DS and PSP after a price drop comes out for both (and SONY sures up its hardware)

It may not even take that long. I remember there were people selling/trading their DS's almost right away.

I think the PSP is going to be a little to complicate for handheld gaming...who wants load times when they riding the bus 15 minutes? I find alot of people are going to be displeased a few days after launch...I give it 8 days

I have a feeling that I may unload mine after a weekend...err, loadtimes with a portable system. And I have a feeling that Metal Gear Acid won't be to my liking.

But will it be the fault of attention spans or Sony's marketing/release plans?

I can't see paying $250 for a handheld. Unless you commute or travel a lot, why play games on that tiny screen?

I think this is a bitter retaliation from nintendo fanboys =). Sorry not all consoles come out with only 8 launch games and only 1 decent title.

You're a doofus.

And I say, 9 days.

You give the PSP's launch lineup too much credit.

half of it is made up of console ports of games that are really old and can be found in the bargain bin

both launch lineups are extremely weak IMO, and just because you launch with a lot of games does not mean you have a good launch

What's retaliatory about suggesting that hopes are too high?

I don't know how long it'll take, but I'd expect PSPs to hit the trading board within a month.

Some will most likely sell them soon after its release, but I highly doubt it will be anything near what we've seen with the DS.

Due to the dirth in software for the DS, most people have gotten bored with their games.

But since the PSP doesn't look like it will have that problem, I really doubt we'll see a lot of people selling their systems.

My biggest fear is still the durability of the system.

Totally agree, the PSP's launch is worlds stronger than the DS's launch was. The PSP is like a long-term investment, it's an MP3 player, a UMD movie player, a home-brew movie player, a picture view, and a PS2 level portable gaming machine. When the DS launch, it did none of those things, it was a gaming only machine, with one half-decent game, and very little info on upcoming games, which you may say the PSP has, but the DS was a bizzare product that had a lot of people doubting it's stay power. With the PSP it's obvious that there going to be lots of games.

I think the one thing that everyone sort of forgets is that even though some games are console ports or older games (such as Ape Escape or Classic Nes Zelda) is that this is the first time ANY of these games are portable. Not that they are all great and not that everyone wants them but if you told me years ago when I was playing Zelda on my 8-bit Nes that someday I would have a version of the game in the palm of my hands I would call you crazy. The DS gets Mario 64 and the PSP gets Twisted Metal. This is going to happen time and time again. People should stop complaining about this OVER AND OVER AND OVER again. It's getting old.

I personally do not care about ports of old games sincOVER AND OVER again. It's getting old.
I am talking about games that just came out and not ones that are older. I have had a lot of the older games on the GBA and do not have a problem with that. What I have a problem with are the games that are exactly like their console cousins, and cost ever more than their console counterparts.

I'm sure the people that sold off their DS's will pick up another one once the good stuff begins coming out. Same goes for the PSP. If their is a game drought, people will get hasty and sell theirs off.
