Some PSP warranty info that I heard today...
Think about this: It is possible that you could conceivingly upgrade your PSP for a lot less in the future, instead of having to buy a new version (I.E. something like a PSP SP). I know that doesn't exist yet, but you never know, so the bottom line is...GET THE WARRANTY, especially from EBgames. Hope this helps somebody out, and I hope your local manager is as good as mine. |

BB's replacement plan is similar to this. They give you the amount you originally paid to use towards a new item...in my case the xbox had dropped $50, so i had an extra 50 instore credit. i'll probably exchange my box again for another before the 2 year time period is up...especially if there is significant price drop.

Sam Goody's warranty works like Best Buy's also. That's one reason I'll only get a PSP if Sam Goody gets my preorder right. EB is good if you just want updated hardware, but I like the Sam Goody/Best Buy style better because you can use the extra credit towards games.

Even though I kinda said as much, I just thought I'd post to make it clearer. rvdrock I think basically you're thinking EBgames does what Best Buy does with their warranty, but they don't as far as I know. If you trade in your PSP you get a PSP nothing more or less I think.

I know someone already asked, but I'll ask again - does anyone know what the price would be at Best Buy?
I almost never buy an extended warranty, but if they offer a replacement policy I probably will do it. If I drop it and it breaks or if I damage the screen, I'd like to be able to swap it without a hassle. I think it makes sense for portable devices, to a certain extent. I'd pay $40-50 for that. |

I wasn't saying you messed up man I just wanted to clear it up for people. Your post seemed like it was insinuating that getting a warranty at EB would let people get a PSP later that is different. I guess if it was just hardware they changed they could, but I figure people should know Best Buy and place like that would be a little easier with them giving out a rebate that you can use on anything.

CompUSA is giving extended warranty on the PSP wheither you purchase it at their store or not. I have called them and confirmed that it is correct, but you might want to call them yourself just to make sure. If you guys bought your PSP at a store that doesn't have extended warranty offers, I suggess you take your receipt from the store you bought it from and take it to CompUSA.
Correct me if my spellings are wrong. |

My toys r us also cnfirmed that the service plan will be 29.99, and instead of trying to fix it(since price of labor is too high for such a little spohisicated device, it would be replace FREE, even if the smallest thing goes wrong including dead pixels

Folks, read the fine print on ANY warranty you sign.
Take a close look at the EBGames ESA and you'll see that it only covers manufacturer defects, REGARDLESS of what the manager will tell you. If you don't have it in writing, YOU DON'T HAVE IT. As it is, I'll be purchasing a Gamestop PRP on my PSP, given Sony's shoddy track record with first-gen hardware. I have no delusions that they'll just give me another one in a few months, especially if it works fine. But if the thing stops reading UMD's or something silly happens with that square button, I'll be prepared. |
