not only did I miss out on that boat, it actually docked in the harbor for the very first time as a new product just as I was buying my very first Genesis -- can't say I regretted the purchase decision though.

Every review magazine I ever read always said the Genesis version ran faster and better -- all the super Nintendo had going for it was looks and occasional slowdown compared to the exact same title on the Genesis

More importantly, the Genesis didn't have Nintendo's then censorship policies to deal with -- I was so angry at Nintendo over the editing 8-bit during the original 8-bit system days, that I didn't forgive them until well after the gamecube release.

Which isn't the same Nintendo didn't have some great games back then if you could overlook the censorship issue-- ended up playing at other people's houses and later on emulators to see the uncensored versions of the games .

I bought an SNES the day it launched, and had a massive collection of games for it. But back in those days, I would sell my old systems to get new ones. I think I sold my SNES and Genesis for the Saturn and Playstation.

Oh how I regretted getting rid of them.

I did manage to find an SNES Model 2 mint-in-box for $20 within the last year or so and I've started building a new collection since. Same with the Genesis - I got a new-in-box Genesis Model 3 for $20 and now I'm collecting games for it. Oddly enough the games I tend to buy now are the games I never owned as a kid, aside from the few really stand-out games I loved.

I've also recently obtained yet ANOTHER N64. Got one at launch, traded it in toward Dreamcast, bought a Gold Edition N64, sold it, and now I'm on my 3rd and trying to rebuild that collection.

I have an original NES console on the way too. That was the system I regret selling most, because I must've had close to 50 games for it...but alas I would not have had my SNES.

Guess it all comes full circle. Now that I'm an adult I'm recapturing my youth and those dumb trades and sales of my old systems.

Now all I need is to find a mint, working Atari 7800...muhuhahaha.

Ahem. Sorry for the long winded post.

You should feel lucky that you got them. After my parents saw how Mario 3 on the NES got to me, they tried their best to keep VG's away from me.

I've got 3 SNES's, one of them was recently taken apart and rebuilt inside my computer along with my gamecube and gba player. The SNES still gets the majority of my playing time. I clocked over 3000 rounds of Super Mario Kart battle mode in 2003.

I have one hooked up to my TV now. I've owned about 4 of them since they were released, kept selling them and rebuying them later. I plan on keeping this one now, still have the original box and packing it came in. I just need some more games for it now.

traded my genesis for an SNES back in the day and then sold the sucker later for god knows what. I picked up the SNES model 2 NEW when I worked at EB while I was in College. I still got the sucker too. Ripped out the tabs so it can play SFC games and I got two SFC official controllers two, those multi colored buttons looks so much cooler than the 2 tone SNES ones. Got about 15 games, the must haves: Super Mario World, Mario All Stars, All the megaman games, including Rockman & Forte & megaman soccer, Super Mario RPG, Metroid and and and...

That was the first console I bought with my own money, and I have it hooked up on my computer room tv, haven't played much since I beat Chrono Trigger about a zillion times.
