Looks like we won't see a working model of the Revolution this year - which I think is fine since the Rev isn't coming out till next year anyways. Still, let's hope that they have some in-game footage and what not. And they'll be a *playable* version of the new Zelda!

Lifed from EvilAvatar.com

Update:

Apparently, there are conflicting reports that the Revolution will in fact be @ E3:

"With all the rumours that are going around about Nintendo going to show their upcoming Revolution console or not, we decided it was definitely time to get some confirmation so we called our contact within Nintendo and wouldn't leave the phone alone until we got a definite reply on the question "Will the Revolution be shown at E3 ?"

Well, ladies and gentlemen, we can now safely say "Yes!" to that question. Our PR contact confirmed that the Revolution will not only be talked about but also be shown at E3. Whether it will be playable however has yet to be confirmed.

So, there you have it, straight from the source. Stay tuned at Fragland for more E3 and Revolution news as it becomes available."

Lifted from EvilAvatar.

Great, so now I have no idea who to believe.

Well--does this mean Nintendo will have more powerful hardware since they have more time to develop the Revolution?

I love video games just as much as anyone, but i'd like to see the next gen hold something better than Metroid Prime 3/Super Smash Brothers Melee Revolution/Mario Kart Triple Dash, etc. etc....you guys know what I mean.

Nintendo, come on. Get with the program here. Ditch the silly-ass touch controllers while you're at it.

I've heard (from PSM magazine, take that however you want...) that the PS3 will look so much better than Xbox 360. That being said, all three next-gen systems should look basically the same this time around...

You'll definitely see sequals. But why wouldn't you want to? Nintendo makes excellent games. I sure want sequals to those you mentioned...

(I like new ideas/games too, and I'm sure we'll have some, but there is nothing wrong with their sequals!)

Revolution is going to the Gamecube/DS/GBA all over again. Rehash of old games with new graphics. I love Nintendo, but they need to shape up and realize they can't be a true competior without doing something different.

You guys are missing the good news in the article, there will be a playable demo of the next GC Zelda.

Other good news is Nintendo will be showing their "online service."

Just figure out what Spong is reporting.

Believe the opposite.

Does anyone else see the irony for attacking Nintendo for not doing anything "different"?

Well, they never stray from their way, but their way is entirely different from the rest of the industry. I guess they are simultaneously different and not different.

Exactly.
I think a different word that would work better would be complacent.
Nintendo seems plenty happy to sit back on past victories and continue to reap the profits, and then occasionally drop something new and creative.

I really hope that Nintendo's new path works for them (seeking out a new market of "non-gamers" rather than agressively courting the "hardcore" gamer.)
If that works, it could shake Nintendo free of that seeming complacency.

I've always found the "hardcore" gamer definition kind of odd, though.
I'd expect those would be the people seeking out the niche games, or those wanting to play the games of the highest quality, regardless of the system they are on... not the ones jumping from one "hot" title to the next... yet you'll see most people refer to "Halo 2" as the darling of the hardcore gamer, and games like "Katamari Damacy" refered to as beloved by niche gamers.

...and of course, the cheapassgamer, who covets both Halo 2 and KD. If only we had a some sway in the industry, instead of being the last ditch for companies to recoup losses. I think if they focused on us, the industry would be better as a whole. :P

Considering Majesco's direction and the influx of good playable games with a $20 release MSRP, I think we actually do hold some sway.

Lest you forget, the niche gamer darling that is Katamari Damacy hit our shores at a $20 price point as well.

i been hearing nintendo is going to drop from the race to be number 1. they are going to let Playstation and xbox fight for number 1. Nintendo said they are going to go for lower price points then to compete with those two.

some are saying that the next system could enter the market at 149 again while the ps3 and xbox will come in around 300-400

Wow I wonder if Nintendo Power will say that the N5 will look better too!!!!

It's like teenage guys going "Mine is bigger than yours!" Until we see the thing there is no proof.

wouldn't that be a way of competing for number 1? They are all trying to sell the most systems and lower price point would definetly do that.
