I don't see why this wouldn't be cool as hell if implemented properly. It's not like the graphics will be in 3 layers and all red (I hope). Imagine playing Resident Evil and a zombie reaches out for you and appears to get really close or a FPS where the bullets really seem like they are flying towards you... I think it is a potentially great idea and if Nintendo wants to explore it so be it. I'll still have my PS3 and X360 to play more traditional games...

Volumetric imaging is going to be one of the biggest breakthroughs in technology, especially entertainment, in years.

Considering the next wave of big budget movies will be done this way, i think its Nintendo actually jumping ahead of everyone else.Considering normal games are able to be made and played on the system, there are really no drawbacks. Powerful system for graphics, Nintendo titles, still able to use 3rd party support...nope, not seeing a problem.

I agree if put out properly with game support it will be great, but nintendo isn't known for the FPS, and they have a history of putting out these great idea's that do not get supported. I also thought that sony had recently registered patents for similiar technology

I'm just as excited to see a gyroscope in the controller, the idea of a touchscreen also would be incredible if implemented properly.

The VB wasn't a bad idea, it just wasn't executed properly. If Nintendo does it right (and they very well could), it would indeed be Revolutionary. I would be damn impressed, and once I got my breath back, I would go out and pre-order one. We all saw futuristic depictions of virtual reality games and holograms, and anybody who didn't think it was a cool idea is either lame or a liar. And really, people just love to chastize Nintendo for trying something different. They went with the mainstream for the Gamecube, and last I checked, they were in last place. I love my Gamecube, but I don't think it's a bad thing for Nintendo to get creative. And again, using the VB as the universal doomed console is old and innacurate. Whenever you use it, you don't look creative or funny. You're only the 1097409730429374th person to try and make the analogy, and it's not any more clever than it was the 1097409730429373rd time. If you want mainstream, you have 2 choices. That's enough. I can't wait to see how different my 3rd option is. |

interesting. I just need to know exactly how this will work before I bash it to hell. Just kidding, I'm all for someone trying something different. this sounds like it could kick ass...but what are the possibilities of how this could be implemented? I can only think of a couple lame ones :P
1. 3-d glasses. 2. some kind of projection from the system? (that would be crazy if the system had a built in projector.) 3. Virtual helmets!!! ok no 4. ummmmmm..............3-d glasses? anyone else care to take a stab at it? |

It would probably use polarized glasses
The only drawback I can see would be for people watching the game without the glasses as the image would appear weird to them. LucasArts is trying to get this stuff to the movie scene fast and the tech is very cool. So if they can do this right then more power to them |
