I've seen these but have never had a purpose for them until now. I'm making a road trip and was thinking I could save a bunch of space if I picked one up. I'm afraid of scratching the disks though. Has that happened to anyone who used one of these?

Yes, I used to use one until I realized it was scratching my disks. Minor scratches, but enough to piss me off. If you use one, check it very carefully to make sure there's nothing that will rub against the disk & cause scratches.

That is all I needed to hear. I won't buy it then. I'll deal with lugging 10 games with me.

the game cases that slide in and out CAN scratch a disc, especially the cheap ones with bad material on the data side of the disc.

CD Projects cases are pretty good quality in general, and lesser chance of a scratch. It'll still happen though if you're not careful.

Snap on cases are scratch free though. You can also get the clam shell plastic cd/dvd single holders. Personally I just use the regular cd cases (since any crappy one will do)

i use these and you have to know what brands are good and which arnt.

i use the following:

case logic (u can get these anywhere)
atlantic (i only saw these at target and they were on clearence years ago so i doubt ull find them)
fellowes - my favorite! i picked it up at office max, 228 cds for 35$
geekstor - i got this from compgeeks.com for 9.99 (300 discs) and thus far havent had any problems

Basically w/ mine, there was a piece of plastic that you could supposedly tuck the disk under. It was a small piece at the top of the disk after you slid it in the sleave. I never tucked it under - honestly, I don't think anyone would - but it was that small piece of plastic that was scratching the disks.

I'm not saying they all do it, because I'm sure some don't. But for me, getting burnt once was enough. It wasn't worth it for me since I don't take my games with me that much anyway.

ive never had one with that plastic thing...

also avoid cd projects ive had problems with theirs in the past, cant vouch for them now tho

I use the Interact game case. It's blue and black with a zipper closure. You can still find them at Gamestops and TRU. Its a small 3 ring binder with soft scratchless sleeves with a CD pocket on the back of the page and a clear pocket on the front for the instruction manual. I can fit 12-15 games per folder. They're terriffic but now I need more and can't find any.

I use Case Logic, I am definitely impressed with the quality of the binder. I haven't had any scratches yet, hopefully none in the future. That +8 Fast-File they have on new cases is pretty damn useful too.

I used the type argyle was talking about for a month or two and decided my games needed to go back in their proper cases. Only one game got a tiny scratch, but it was enough for me to go to the more tedious, but safer route.

I like the Cd cases with the small piece of plastic at the top I always tuck it over the cd's it keeps them in place and strach free .

I use them just for trips, otherwise they go back in their original cases. I don't think cases are good for any disc media. In my car all my cd cases eventually scratch my cd's, I think. I am using the Nintendo ones that hold 12 games, need to get another case, already have two.
