I made this post in another thread, but felt it deserved its own thread, because this is HUGE news..



This is right before the 3:10 mark or so when viewing the video. This either confirms that the new Halo is in a playable state, or someone's playing Halo 2 or Halo on the 360.. which would confirm backward compatibility.

What do you guys think?

Personally, I think it's the new Halo.. a logo on the live screen of it.. then if you squint, you can see that it says something underneath the Halo..

It looks like a 2 there as well - or maybe not?

Haha. My eyes must be shot. I dont see crap. Feels more like wishing there WAS a gunman behind the grassy knoll. But I hope youre right about the BW compatability

It could have been Photoshopped or something, but I'd like to think not.

Personally, I hope it's evidence of backwards compatibility. Halo 2 just came out in November, all of the new maps will be out in June, and multiplayer hasn't gotten stale yet. I would hate to think they'd rush to release Halo 3 and let all of that time waiting for Halo 2 go to waste.

But as they said, the Halo 2 that was delivered was not the Halo 2 they made. They spliced it into two halves, so it's very quite possible that the other half.. Halo 2.5, Halo 3, whatever.. is close to being complete.

Nice catch though. It's possible that it's just overlay from another tab, fading out when the Live tab loads up. Or maybe some kind of leaderboard for all XBL games, as viewed on the 360. Could be anything really, we just have to play the waiting game.

The Live tab is the one that's fading out. The green tab is sliding over it.

I meant to post that I wouldn't watch the video before the show :P

Very plausible theory. Perhaps it's the rumored Halo 2.5 included with the add-on 40 GB hard drive? Now that would be a nice surprise for launch.

I think it is Halo 2 (or 2.5) in possibly a beta phase being ran on a Xbox 360 unit. If it were backwards compatible with the current xbox though, it would cement my decision in buying one for sure.

actually it could just be a friend with an xbox 1 playing halo 2, so it doesn't have to be either. if you think they have halo 3 in anything beyond brainstorming stage, well, you don't know much about videogame development.

..they've admitted that they split Halo 2 into two parts with the latter half to be released at a later date, how would it be stupid to consider it to be in development or even playable?

If there's a Halo game released this year for the Xbox 360, what "big" game will Microsoft have to go up against the PS3 in the fall of 2006?...

who are "they"? bungie? because no, they've never said anything close to that. don't mean to be a dick in your thread (i'm just in a bad mood after that mtv travesty), but halo 3 isn't coming out for a loooong time...

I'm getting a 360, but if it's backwards compatible WITH XBL games...*drools* I will be SO happy. I can't wait for this beast.
