I work for iBeta Quality Assurance, a game testing company. We are recruiting for a beta test team. This team will get to take an early look at GameTap and provide us with valuable feedback. If you haven’t heard of this exciting new service, it’s a first-of-its-kind broadband entertainment network that offers games-on-demand plus original programming via a broadband connected PC. The service offers a wide range of games from retro-arcade to PC to popular console. GameTap will launch with hundreds of games and then roll out additional titles and programming on an ongoing basis. Programming is created expressly for GameTap -- coming attractions and behind-the-scenes peeks that introduce the games and provide background information.

Candidates for the beta test must:

1. Be 18 years of age or older
2. Live in the United States
3. Have an IBM compatible PC with Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 1.2GHz or better processor
4. Have 256 MB RAM, or better
5. Have an ATI Radeon VE 7000 with at least 32MB ram video card, nVidia GeForce2 with at least 32MB ram, or better (On-board video cards will not be accepted)
6. 5GB of free hard drive space
7. Have a broadband connection

If you are interested in joining our team please visit https://betatest.ibeta.com/tgn/
and complete the submission form. If you fit the team's needs, we will be in contact with you shortly in order to verify information and set you up on the team.

Thank you for your interest!

FYI, he asked my permission before posting.

Also, I had a chance to test GameTap out at E3 (it was shown behind closed doors) and it is slick as hell. I am definitely signing up for the beta, and will likely subscribe to the service, depending on price.

Wow, IE ActiveX security is tighter than a virgin asshole now.
That signup page was a pain in the ass.

Sorry about that. This is actually the second round of testing. In our first round, we had everyone export their dxdiag info manually. It ended up being too much for some people to handle, so the current site is our way of making things easier... kinda.

Yeah, if I had to bet which one will actually launch/survive I would put my money behind GameTap.

EDIT: For those of you who are signing up, I recommend using IE during the application process.

Too bad the PC I'm using right now is inadequate. All of my better PCs are in storage until I move to a bigger place.

We'll be sending out acceptance e-mails in the next week or so, which will be followed closely by download information. Thanks to everyone who has signed up so far.

Signed up. The service sounds awesome, especially how much you talked it up at E3 Cheapy . Hopefully I can get in to the beta and check this bad boy out!

I'm wondering about the details of the service. I assume all the content available has been licensed. It looks like some sort of emulation was employed.

I just signed up for the beta. Too bad I couldn't post my resume. I'm sure I'd be accepted based on the 5 years of cumulative testing experience I have working for Sega and Sony. Ah, the good ole days...

Just filed my application using my laptop...dunno if I should have used my more capable desktop... Something tells me they'll be seeking a big group of console users (versus PC gamers) to make sure everything's stupid-simple for the masses.
