I picked this up today at Gamestop, my local EB said it won't have the game until tommorrow.

For those unfamilar with the Metal Slug series, it is an old fashioned 2D side-scrolling shoot-up up, that started as a Neo Geo game. It's all about playability hand drawn animation and not about flashy 3D graphics.

First thing I noticed about the games were the graphics looked sharper, but more 'pixel-ly' when compared with Metal Slug 3 for Xbox. It looks like the Xbox does a antialias to smooth out the graphics a bit. You can note checkboard patterns used to denote 'shade' in the PS2 version. Still for a game like this, the graphics, while primitive are endearing. They hark back to a time of play without having to worry about moving the 'camera'.

Side scrolling looks just a bit less smooth than Metal Slug 3. Both games (MS4 and MS5) have an insane difficulty level. There are some spots in the game, wehere you feel death is unavoidable. Unlimited continues help to ease any frustration this may cause.

The games come packaged on two DVD's and the game does not have the white label across the top unlike most PS2 games.

IMO the Metal Slug series want meant for handhelds.

The Metal Slug ports should have been released on GBA or PSP instead (Metal Slug Advance rocks).

No, you're wrong.

Metal Slug Advance sucks my asshole. What the is with the life bar and infinite continues? The game is for pussies. Absolutely no incentive to get better at the game when you can just die and start right where you left off.

OP, is there an option to turn off unlimited continues?
