I know, it's incredible that I've never played it so far, but I really wasn't much into gaming at the time.

So now my options are basically play the N64 version (I don't want an N64 - seems pointless now, if revolution downloads would be cheap enough) - or the DS version. It seems that the DS version suffers from loss of analog control, but has extra content; thought I'd rather prefer to play the game on an actual TV.

So anybody who's played both versions, please share your insights.

the analog is needed for precise controls.

if you're not big on gaming on the go and have full access to a tv all the time, go with the n64 download.

Just get an N64, it's the best console ever and they cost at most $15.

It all depends on what the Revolution's controller is like...I would just buy an N64 to play it. The analog control makes the game what it is, the DS version is mediocre because of it.

$13.49 at EBGames.com

Heck, you could get the N64, and 10 N64 games using the 15-for-$50 deal, for just over $60, after Edge and SAVER (can't use CAG15). Just barely more than the cost of one new game.

Anyway, if you've never played it, I'd reccomend playing it on a system with a real analog stick - either the Revolution (I guess) or the N64. To this day, it is one of the best-controlling games ever made. Like butta. So, yeah, I guess I'd say Revolution, out of your two choices. But I would reccomend 64 DS as well, for it's new features, but not till you've played it on N64 or Rev.

I am trying not to increase the tangle of wires and controllers in my place by adding yet another console.

Not because I mind, see, but because I don't want it too messy on the off chance that I'll ever be able to get a girl there.

I've just looked at the 15 for $50 list - most of these are old sports titles, or stuff I already have for the Dreamcast / playstation (and probably worse versions too).

If you have a DS already, just get it for the DS. Who knows, you might not end up hating the controls. If you don't, just pick up an n64 now. It won't take you long to beat it and finish it soon enough, you still might be able to take advantage of the $50 trade in deal.

Either wait for it on the Revolution, ot buy an N64. The DS version is lousy because the analog control sucks. The touch screen analog approach was a damn good idea, but it's got big flaws. I mean, why on earth would they make the analog control target on the touch screen MOVE!? That's like making my control stick move around on my controller while I'm trying to use it.
