For me, it would be Super Mario All-Stars for SNES. Got my copy back in fall 1994, so it's been over 9 years.

I had Super Mario World and Street Fighter II for SNES before that (both games I own now), but my original copy of SMW died on me about 5 years back and SFII got lost years ago, had to replace them both.

What about you guys?

Super Metroid, the only game I never sold. Still have my old saved game on it. Everything else through the years I have sold and then later rebought. Now, I hold onto every game I get and rarely sell anything.

I guess I could also count my old Donkey Kong handheld from 1984. Still have that, still works.

Combat for the Atari VCS was my first, but my Dad bought it so does that count or not?

And if were counting handhelds, I had a black and white, Mattel Electronics racing handheld. It had a vertically scrolling LED display with 3 lanes and cars that looked like dashes. that was in 1975/76, I believe. BEAT THAT, you youngens!

Actually, my first was quadra doodle for the Fairchild channel F unit my dad got way,way back. They just had names for the carts on that system and I think it was cart #1, or maybe even built into the console, I'm not exactly sure. Almost forgot about that one.

The first game I bought myself was Contra for NES. Still have the box and instructions. My parents screwed me up as kid and made me obsessive about keeping up with stuff.

my folks got the family a pong game (no carts to change) with the two little wheels on it back around 75-76; but they sold it at a garage sale around '85...*sniff*

THey also sold my 2600 around then....*sniff*sniff*

But I still have my first NES with SMB/Duck Hunt, and the lightgun. I even have the original box with a $99.99 WalMart tag on it! I'll never let it go!!

Although I've sold and re-purchased a lot of games over the years, I think the one I've held onto the longest and remains from my orginal collection is Mega Man for NES. Yes, the first one. Box, instructions, warnings, NP subscription card, styrofoam, black slip sleeve, game...everything.

Like a few others my first game that I still have was Super Mario/Duckhunt, damn that dog. I just found my old batman for the NES too with the box. I think that might have been the first game I bought individually
