Gamecube Hacked...

Anyone heard anything about this???

I heard some people are using Phantasy Star Online to gain access to the cube through the broadband adapter ... using their PC to spoof the PSO server.

I think people have been using the cube to rip game disc images... upload game images -- I've even heard people us running some emulation software to play N64 games....

Anyway... just curious if anyone else has heard anything about this.

heard about it ans saw screen shot of it. You need pso, network adapter, PC and the software and of course GC .

As far as I know there is no software available to rip gamecube games, but you can use a BBA, PSO and a PC to play ISOs of GameCube games that you have downloaded. Some people can obviously rip the game data, but that software is not readilly available.

The emulation used is horrible. Sound does not work or does not sync properly. There are glitches and load screens everywhere (2 minutes to open doors etc.). Saving problems etc. So if you want a really horrible gaming experience give it a try.

It really is a testiment to Nintendo's anti piracy measures that after two years the gamecube is still piracy free.

...The warp pipe is something completely different. Thats just tricking your cube into thinking that the connection through the computer to someone in ohio is normal LAN.

The GC hacked bit is about people using a glitch in PSO and the BB adapter to "leak" info to and from the cube. That basically how the DC crap started, but the cube just a bit harder to crack for them

I know that you can also run Linux on the cube as well.

It's a lot like running DiVX on a dreamcast.... it can be done, just not well. But come to think of it, now linux "runs" on all of the modern gen consoles, DC, GC, XBX and PS2, with the latter two being the only ones that it is actually functional.

Man, anyone who pirates Nintendo games is instantly on my shit list. Or any recent games, or movies. I'm hypocritical about music, because it's hard to see if it sucks or not from 30 second lo-fi sound clips from Amazon. However, if you download it and like it yet do not purchase it; You suck hard.

hypocritical indeed. sorry, but you may as well just not say anything considering you've fully contradicted yourself.
