Thanks for the clarification about year-round stock, bluetoast. I've checked areas like the gift card rack, the shelves/counters by the registers, and the video game shelves (top and bottom), but I haven't seen anymore since I bought the 10 I spotted several weeks ago (which were sitting in the game section). Asking employees doesn't seem to help at all, so I guess I'll have to check the music aisles next time as per your advice (strange place to put the Gamer Gift Cards...). Though I'm not putting too much hope into waiting for more GGCs to show up in this area -- employees at one of my local BBs swear they've never even seen or heard of the GGC.

I had trouble finding them too, but I asked an employee in the gaming section where the gift cards were and he promptly showed me them

Let me get this straight....

I just read this thread and I want to understand something. The Gamers Gift Card is practically a Best Buy gift card in a jewel case that comes with a $5 off coupon? Please enlighten me if I am wrong because I am confused after reading this topic.

No you are completely correct. It is just that, a gift card, it comes in a jewel case. It also comes with a coupon for $5 off any game or accessory for 19.99
Basically Say you get the card and decide to buy Xenosage which is worth 20 bucks. You put 5 bucks on the card, and now you can use the coupon. Give the card and coupon to the employee before you buy the game, they swipe it and use the $5 you just put in there...and then scan the coupon for an extra $5. Now you can pay for the rest in cash.

Edit: You don't have to put in 5 bucks as mentioned before, heck you put in 15 bucks, and then all you would have paid for Xenosaga would be tax.

maybe im slow, but im completely confused. What with the .1 cent on each card, could employees seriously be that stupid? How does this thign work, because even though that other guy told very clearly im still confused. I just have no idea whats going on. so say if you get like a dollar on a card and then you give the coupon (5$) to the guy and the card. and its on a 20$ game then you get 4$ off total? because you had to pay for the other dollar, right? But how could you save any money if you spent less then 5$ because of the other money you spent. And also what you can use multiple coupons per item? Best buy people are oblivious what happens if the accessories are only 1 cent each and you have like 7 and you save like 35$. OK im probably wrong but im seriously confused.

No, you're paying towards the price of the game. If you put $1 on the card, you can use the card towards the purchase of the card. Therefore, the thing costs $20. For our purposes, we'll forget about tax. Okay, so you use the Gift Card. Then it costs $15. You use the Card that you deposited $1 to. The price is $14 now. Then you pay the rest in Cash. If you expect to do it once, you can certainly put more money on the card, but if you're trying to just get the card and use it, you can spend small amounts on it.

And no, the cards are not stackable, unless the employees are incompetent.

Actually the system prevents using the same discount code twice. If they manually over-ride it they're incompetent (and will likely by fired).

Umm, yeah, it is, did you miss that point? If you don't appreciate saving up to 25% with little or no effort (on top of any other deal that might be going on), then this website probably isn't for you.

Agreed. 5 bucks is 5 bucks - I don't care what anyone says...

I've decided to buy one GGC each time I go in. That way, I always have one ready to use and don't have to deal with a confused cashier (I hope). So I go in a couple of days ago and pick one up. When I get it home I realize the $5 coupon on the back is gone! Some dumbass must have torn it out, then put the case back on the shelf. Oh well, at least I didn't lose anything.

But still ....

Moral of the story: check the back of the case and make sure it still has the coupon

Are all the GGC different now? I recently went to BB and all the cards I see have no coupon on the back anymore.

I was just there and picked up Metroid GBA with one. The dude at the register was cool. I said I'm going to get this GGC and use the coupon. He said no problem and did it all up for me. He even said he suggests that people use them, but they never do. He was totally cool about it.

The best thing seems to be (if u are going to buy a game at bestbuy)
Buy 5 giftcards . Put 5-10 bucks on each one

Walk out/in. Use the 5 giftcards on the 1 game u wanted to buy
u save 5 bucks and have 4 coupons left over for a later date.

This saves a lot of time and headaches.
