Need good recommendation for anime(s)

I've been meaning to get more into anime for a while, I like some manga (Bleach, blade of the immortal, et al) and I've seen a few animes I liked (Lain, Lodoss, miyazaki, et al) but there are so many i haven't seen... now with the ddd 20% off sale I'm thinking about picking something up.

I like anime of all genres i guess, but nothing too over-the-top graphic or pervy... & i like a good solid story. Thinking about picking up cowboy bebop or possibly Samurai X, Hellsing. Kind of oddly drawn to Haibane Renmei too. Anyone got a recommendation to share? Scifi would be good, or fantasy... something set in Feudal Japan would be AWESOME...

Thanks y'all! I appreciate it!

Definitely get the Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X) OVA! Those are *BY FAR* my favorite anime of all time. Can be found here:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...s=dvd&v=glance

I'd also recommend Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed DESTINY if you haven't seen any of the older Gundam material. Hajime no Ippo is a great boxing series, and Angelic Layer is great, too.

Forget it - here's a great resource for highly rated anime amongst fans:

http://www.animenfo.com/

The site's down right now, but their current ranking of the top 100 anime of all time is pretty close to where I put my favorites.

Full Metal Alchemist
Kenshin
Inuyasha
Yu-Yu Hakusho
Naruto
Neon Genesis Evangelion (only mech-based anime I ever watched an liked)
Ghost in the Shell: Stand-alone Complex

My buddy really likes:
Gunslinger Girls and
Fooly Cooly?

Just check out Cartoon Network on Saturday nights. You could preview a bunch of the ones I listed up there just by watching to see if you like them.

Don't get the OVA's, get the Rurouni Kenshin series. The 1st OVAs (Trust/Betrayal) are good, but the last one (Reflection) is a bastardization of the series, the creators and most fans have completely disavowed it.

The series is a bit more affordable now with the economy boxes, plus the 20% off.

Good call. I love the dog (Ian?) and any episode that revolves around Spike vs Vicious.

Definitely start with the episodes.

Samurai Champloo is pretty good.
Outlaw Star was pretty sweet too.
I didn't catch all of it, but from what I saw, Wolf's Rain (?) was good too.

I think Full Metal might be my favorite anime ever.
It's relatively short too -- only 51 episodes plus a movie.
Evangelion is short -- 26 eps with the end of evangelion movie being a alternate take on the ending (eps 25,26).
Outlaw Star and Bebop also range around in the 25 episode range, I believe.

I may pick up the first FMA dvd... i think I may netflix bebop, I've heard nothing but good things about it but for some reason it isn't really catching my eye. Evangelion the same.

I saw some Samurai Champloo and it was kinda "meh" for me. But Kenshin, hmm...

<...wracked with indecision...>

Thanks my friends

Ein is the dogs name. Pronounced "INE" like "wine" without the "w."
