I finally got the damn thing the other day after playing (yet never getting all the way through) the demo a while back. Now I can only get about 10 minutes into it before getting toasted. Some boat keeps fragging me with rockets while I drive the little dune buggy. Have tried leaving the buggy (still get fragged), have tried keeping away from the shoreline (still get fragged somehow).

Ah well, least I got it for cheap.

Seriously though, if you are willing to put a little effort in (it's not that hard), you are in for a truly awesome experience.

You took the time to add two replys:
why don't you give the gamer a clue?

If you have trouble at the beginning, the last part is going to make you pull your hair out.

Well, I've only played it maybe three times. But I've gotten killed at the same point each time. I imagine that once I actually sit down and maybe have a marathon session I'll get past it. I'm just not used to hitting a sticking point so early in a game.

Far Cry is coming out on Xbox but I think it will be significantly different (like Rainbow Six 3 was).

www.overstock.com has the strategy guide for $11.99. Shipping is only $1.40.

Thanks, but www.gamefaqs.com has a guide for free.

If I get really desperate, I guess I could look for codes.

Ac tually I only had two parts where I got stuck. I got stuck in the middle when you had to storm the island fortress, and there were a ton of trigens between you and the fortress. There's supposed to be a back way to sneak into the fortress. But I couldn't find it. So I had to go the hard way therough about ten trigens and twenty soldiers at the same time. Took me thrity or forty tries until I finally got lucky and got through across the bridge.

Then, the last level is a bitch. It's harder than the whole game put together. I won't spoil it for you, but the last level is HARD!

I forget what difficulty I played at. Above normal but below the hardest level.I need a better computer so I can play it with the quality level on max. There's a big difference in how they look between the medium I ran it on and the max texture and object detail.

HINT: Use the binoculars religously. Even if you think the enemy is a few feet away. First, because of the microphone you'll hear them moving. Secondly, even if you can't see them, the binocular will box them for you. And finally, once an enemy is "tagged" by the binoculars, they will ALWAYS appear as a symbol on your radar wherever they are no matter how far they are. They'll also turn yellow when they're alerted to something and red when they've actually spotted you.

Finally, I've heard a lot of people complain about the save system. I think it's pretty good. First, it's different. Which is cool, because almost every FPS gives unlimited saves. Second, it adds a ton of tension. Because you know you HAVE to get past the enemy to get to the next save point or you have to start all over again. It really forces you to play well and carefully.

You took the time to make one, and managed to remain completely off topic. I would give him a hint as to how to apss this part, but I can't. It's simply a matter where all you need to do is drive along the coastline. I'm sure he will get it.

I'm sure I'll pass it as well. The original post wasn't a call for help, it was a comment on either how hard the game was or how sucky my skills have become.

BTW, I had figured out that trick with the binoculars. Just seems like the part I am stuck on (with all of my three or four half-hearted attempts), splash damage is exaggerated towards the player.
