I'm looking for a cheap pair of car speakers for the front doors of my car. I believe 6.5" ones will be too large to fit, so my options are pretty much limited to 5.5 or 5.25" or whatever they come in. Quality would also be nice for the money, but I would like to spend $35 or less for the pair. Any recommendations are welcome, and links to anywhere online where I can find something of decent quality for the price.

They're stuff is good for the price, and they'll even tell you exactly what size(s) you'll need for your car.

'91 Dodge Spirit. I've used those "Will it fit" things on Circuit City and Crutchfield.com, plus my uncle is a mechanic so he knows what sizes typically fit in most cars.

You have a lot to learn... There is no typical...

Go to Crutchfirled or somewhere and find out what size you need.

I said I went to Crutchfield.com and used their guide to find what sizes fit my model. 5.25 or 5.5" speakers will fit fine. You're right though I do have a lot to learn because outside of what size will fit I don't know a lot about car audio. All I know is what I've read about online, like what materials make a better speaker, etc. I'm not looking to get a sweet system, just two front speakers that are better than factory speakers.

Well, in looking for speakers, you need to judge them by frequency response and sensitivity. Don't worry about wattages and power handling, because there's no point getting something that can handle lots of power if you're not going to give it lots of power.

This may help: http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/S-.../speakers.html

And, for what you're looking for, you don't want component speakers.

Ok,

I guess I misread your post I thought you didnt even know what size and were just guessing...

Honestly for the budget I would go check out Walmart.... Stay away from Sony Xplde and Jensen (subs are actually decent for the $)
See if you can find some older boxed Pioneers on sale... They are actually a good speaker for the money and a LOT of Walmarts recently clearanced them out for the newly designed box (within the last year)

Got any specific questions?

I second that. If you really want some nice sound quality for the money, I'd suggest Polk. Pioneers are also good.

Thanks guys. I probably will go check out Walmart as soon as I get the chance. I usually browse through their auto section, and I've noticed that they do update their inventory and have things on clearance often, maybe I'll get lucky and find those Pioneers. I actually think the speakers I was eyeing up last time I was there were Pioneer. Thanks for confirming what I've read online about the Sony XPlod series, it does seem that it is somewhat overpriced for the performance you get out of them. I don't really care about the style or how they look, since they'll be going in my door anyway.
