Oritron Progressive Scan DVD Player - is this any good?



[edit - Did some research & all I found were complaints after complaints. Apparently Oritron only designs their products to last ~60 days & that's it.]

I had one that lasted 3 weeks under heavy use. If you use it sparingly, it may be worth it.

I bought a DVD player 18 months ago for $35 and it still works. So 3 weeks or at least 18 months... hmmm....

i got a amex off meijers last thanksgiving (2004) watch 3 movies every saturday and never had a problem... its 13 months old and still running

only paid 12.88 forit

I PASSED.

I read two many complaints about broken Oritron Players. I'd rather spend an extra $20-30 and get a recognizable name like Sony or JVC.

We've had an Oritron for about 2 years that we put in a spare bedroom. The biggest problem we've had is that Disney dvds usually lock-up when initially loading, but there is a simple process to avoid it.

I also had to take it apart once because a dvd popped off the tray and got stuck inside (ironically, it was Pirates of the Caribbean, another Disney dvd).

It serves it's purpose, but can be pain sometimes.

Oh, and we paid $19 for it at Sears.
